I don't see TV ratings being that great. 20,000 extra wanting to watch on TV doesn't move the needle much, and it's going to be tough to get too into games with no fans. It will be a curious spectacle at first, but I'd guess interest would diminish over the course of it.

Or, for insurance purposes, they have to be ordered to not play, as opposed to voluntarily not playing...

I selfishly want the NHL to let them play games for at least one more night, so I can get my Lanny bobblehead tomorrow.
(Just kidding. I mean, I do want the bobblehead, but not for the sake of putting people at risk).

The NHL can't force a player to play can they?

Yeah for sure but people were praising the sharks and blue jackets for “leading the charge”. That’s just pure BS.

This feels surreal. But it's the only option.
We have to be proactive rather than reactive.

It's too late to be proactive. Everything happening now is reactive.

Hopefully, Canada and the US have learned from the situations in Europe. There's still hope locally.

Calgary should be awarded the 3rd rounder for James Neal. Close enough!

It's crazy that this thread was started only 13 days ago without a whole lot of people thinking this would have a significant impact and no one imagining it could happen this soon.

I could be wrong, but if the NHL postpones for lets say a month, its likely that they'll just cancel the season so they don't have to push off the start of next season. I doubt that the NHLPA will allow teams to play until halfway through the summer and then start up in September.
But I don't think the NHL is going to have anychoice, with the NBA suspended and MLB postponed, the NHL would look stupid to keep playing.
Just a question for you brainiacs, but if the NHL postpones/cancels, what is the lost revenue going to do to the Cap, are they going to have to do a revenue pro-rate?
