If Ranheim played much on the right side, it must have been after Crisp was fired. That year, the Flames' four regular RWs were Makarov, Fleury, Joe Mullen, and Mark Hunter, with Tim Hunter often swapping in. Best I can recall, Ranheim spent a lot of time in Patterson's old spot on the Gilmour-Mullen line early in the season. But the only really set line was Roberts-Nieuwendyk-Makarov; everyone else got shuffled around in a desperate attempt to find the team's mojo.
Yeah maybe, but Mark Hunter didn't play much at all that year, my memory isn't clear so i might be wrong but I seem to recollect fans harping about Ranheim playing his off wing and it was hurting his goal totals, either way I think his injury the next year derailed his career as a very good goal scorer, I never forget him in practice picking top corners like his stick was a gun.
If someone came up to me and told me Paul Ranheim played 1000 games in the NHL, I'd call them a liar. You learn something new every day.
Back to the original question of Flames players that developed in the AHL and translated, Andrew Mangiapane was basically a ppg player in the A. That's a little more recent than Rich Chernomaz.

You're quite right, my mistake. Mark Hunter started the year as a regular but lost most of the season to injuries. It was still a stacked RW position and Ranheim can't have spent all that much time there.

k im just not going to respond to your #### anymore because i have better things to do like #### my model girlfriend rather then try to convince people like you of commonly held hockey knowledge.
I think Ranheim played a lot of left wing with Fleury and Otto in his rookie year. The Flames had Niewendyk, Robert's, and Makarov on the top line, Mullen, Gilmore, and Brian McLellan as the 2nd unit for much of the year although I think Ranheim saw some time up there. I remember TSN talking about the Flames having a 100 goal top line, an 80 goal second line, and a third line that scored 70 which made them the deepest team in the league.
No doubt the most disappointing first round loss in team history that year to me. That team should have repeated as Cup Champions

Let this guy finish the year in Stockton and absolute tear the league apart and then have him brimming with confidence come October where he can fit nicely on the wing along side Johnny and his new contract.
I don’t think Pelletier is eligible to be on the taxi squad anyway because he’s waiver exempt. He can be a regular call up.
No, people originally misunderstood the taxi squad rules. There are three conditions that make a player ineligible. At first, people were treating them as an "OR" list, but it's actually an "AND" list.
It's waiver exempt AND on the NHL roster on December 22 AND have been on the NHL roster for at least 75% of the season or have played in 16 of their team's last 20 games.
With those conditions, the Flames don't have any players who are ineligible for the taxi squad. That said, based on Sutter's comments about the taxi squad, I wouldn't expect to see someone like Pelletier or Wolf or even Valimaki called up to be on the taxi squad.

Yes! Manage the contract!
Worked with Bennett, looks promising with Monahan lol

What does this even mean? The Flames wrecked Monahan by rushing him? The guy that produced out of the gate and has only slowed with major wrist and hip surgeries?
Or am I missing the point of the lol?

You're missing the invented narrative that Bennett didn't just play like #### the entire time he was here outside of limited playoff stretches. Instead, it is a grand conspiracy involving multiple GMs and Coaches ensuring that bennett could never succeed in Calgary, where he was the highest ever draft pick selected.
