Man a lot to look forward too, but nothing gpcaught me like "What If" that could be really fun. Plus Ahsoka set in the Mandalorian Era? Bring it.

Might already be in the thread, but tvguide reporting the US rate is going up $1 per month starting March 2021.

I cancelled Disney+ last year after Mandolorian S1.
Singed up again now for season 2 and they basically added nothing of value in the last year, especially original series.

This seems like making up for a wasted year. There was probably a lot of people like me that did not keep their subscriptions in the time between Mando season 1 & 2.

There wasn't a ton of new quality content, but Disney already has a ton of quality content..

Between me and my kids in the past year we didn't even come close to watching all the shows and movies we wanted to.. however I guess maybe we don't have as much time as the average family to watch TV? Not sure. Maybe there were families burning through all of that and cancelling.

I was speaking as someone who doesn't have kids and that market.
Their content doesn't cut it compared to Netflix, Prime, HBO etc...
I'm sure they've struggled with the single or adults without kids markets. This move to add Star reflects that.

May have to cancel. We enjoy the Mandalorian but it's a lot to pay for one series.

My kids had already watched all the Marvel and Pixar movies over the last 10 years on Netflix and elsewhere. So we subscribed to Disney for a couple months, binge-watched a few seasons of the Simpsons, and than dropped it. Now that the kids are teens, and Disney has neither a big back catalogue nor much new content, it was an easy decision.

They need to expand their offerings to content that is Hulu based in US for that price

Hope they don't mind me cancelling, waiting for a few new series and movies to come out, binge watch for a month and then cancel again.

...have you not watched the final season of Star Wars The Clone Wars?

Get to it. Right now.

Also, the price increase is likely related to:

A) The increase in prices on other platforms (Netflix)
B) The introduction of Star, which will be another huge content add

Wonder what that means for people like me who signed for $90/ year. The should be honoring that until my annual subscription is up in Nov 2021 hopefully.

We've already paid, so I imagine they will honour the term.

That's exactly what they're doing with the new "Star" section that will be added to Disney+ at the end of February.

Star will basically be Hulu I think. They just aren't calling it Hulu because Comcast owns a chunk of that brand until 2024. So if they expand it internationally they have to pay Comcast. If they use Star (a brand they already own 100%) they keep all the money. Seems like a no-brainer.

Might also be worth it to go for the full year package to lock in the current rate before the February launch for anyone who is on month-to-month if you're planning on keeping it.

I was on the fence about the November auto-renewal, but I decided it wasn't worth cancelling re-buying to save a couple of months, before I wanted to see Wandavision.

The content mill from Disney has been a little too slow in the first year, although the pace has gone up that past month or so. Mulan, Holiday Specials, Mando, the Right Stuff, Ralph Wrecks the internet, Nutcracker, Swifts new docu-album, hopefully they are prepared to keep the pace up now. I know Marvel streaming is finally starting in a few weeks with Wandavision, and the announcements this week seem to indicate they are going a lot harder after original content.

Ended up re-watching SHEILD to get my moneys worth.

I watched it first time right away when I got D+. I enjoyed it but for me at times SHEILD was top tear MCU content, and Carter always felt like a spin-off. It's kind of interesting to me that End Game choose to canonize Carter and ignore SHEILD, I think it might have been because the later would created too many contradictions for them while the former was "dead" text.

I just finished season 6, after re-watching SHEILD it think there was everything up until the last episode of season 5 could be fit within the primary MCU continuity. When Coulson hands Quake the Centipede Serum to defeat Graviton it's a branching event, and basically the branching doesn't stop. My theory is that was the same moment that Wanda killed Vision, and Thanos was unable to reverse time and successfully snap only every collecting 5 stones because they were in a different timeline where the mind stone was destroyed,

Then there was a branch on weather Quake decided to inject herself or not which is how SHEILD has a timeline where the world is destroy and where it isn't,

Season 7 all about the branching universes run out of control.

My theory for the main timeline is that Thanos actually snapped Talbot right before destroying the world, there-by making Thanos the saviour of Earth, Quake was already absorbed into Graviton which is why she wasn't not available for the End Game fight, but this also means that Graviton is out there somewhere because Hulk brought him back, and we don't know why he hasn't destroyed the world yet, it would be a fun tie-in to bring back Pasdar if they make a Thunderbolts movie, but seems unlikely to me.

Gotta agree they need to up the content if they intend to compete. And I think they are but not a lot of the C list superhero shows are really getting me excited.
