Man I’m all for avoiding injuries as much as possible. I’m not a huge fan of fighting, and I think dirty players like Tom Wilson should be straight up kicked out, we don’t need them.

But you’re talking about soccer on ice. And I like soccer.

It wasn’t a blind side hit, it was right into Bennett’s chest. I hope he’s okay and it sucks to see that but that was a clean hit.

Kinda odd you bring that up, but Bennett took a nasty slash from Jones a few shifts before and that game was nasty. This game is a complete nothing game

Still Both are clean

I think the hit is clean in that it isn't late or to the head but it's clear from the HQ vid that it was a predatory hit in terms of intent. I wouldn't expect anything extra for him but it sucks that it had to happen in the last couple of games, especially to Bennett, who I think has the potential to be a difference maker in the playoffs.

Time for Prout to enforce some unwritten rules.

I don’t need to see Prout have to fight. Hit was clean, really hope Benny is okay, but there is no need to fight. Now, if he enjoys that kind of thing and wants to, good in him. But anyone expecting him to throw them in this game is a bit silly.

Prout is a fracking monster. Those lats and shoulders are menacing.

Honestly, my biggest issue with the hit is that Bennett put himself in a vulnerable position.

He seemed to be looking right in the direction of MacDermid and still just set himself up on the tee for that hit. He's normally great at avoiding the big hits.

It’s not odd at all. You brought up unwritten rules so let’s talk about it from both sides of the fence.

Look, I’m not happy Bennett got lit up there and there’s zero doubt Macdermid was looking for him but that was a clean hit.

That hit was probably the highlight of the Kings season

On the back angle, at 45 seconds, you can see that MacDermid's shoulder makes direct contact with Bennett's head. From the main angle you can't see it, but from the second angle, it is direct head contact.

If in anything it might have been charging, but that's a stretch. Would love to see Prout pound doughty, but never happen, and Prout would get suspended the rest of year.

I wouldn’t be opposed to somebody taking a run at Boo hoo Drew here, just because.

If you watch the HQ vid SureLoss posted, in the wide angle you can see MacDermid skating from behind the King's blueline and coming about halfway across the ice to make the hit. I doubt Bennett was able to see that coming.

I don't understand how anyone has a problem with this hit - Bennett does that to ten people a year and it's good tough hockey.

It's not basketball.

Yeah. The more I think about it, Bennett needs to be smarter. Its awesome that he "got the number of that truck" on Doughty. But the Kings aren't going to let that go.

If he wants to play that type of game, he can't put himself in a position to get hit like that.

Hope he's not gone too long, he makes that 3rd line a menace.

Technically a clean hit? Sure.

Not a hockey play though - Sammy was targeted for daring to hit the precious Drew.

In context, it was predatory.
