That one’s on Rittich for not either staying in his crease or playing the puck. Two golden opportunities missed by Backlund. Just goes to show that it’s not just the usual whipping boys who make mistakes.

Flames have handed the Canes both their goals and missed some glorious chances
hopefully they can pull away in the third

Yeah I'm alright with aggressively playing the puck being Smith's thing and Rittich staying in the net

Refs are ####ing brutal since the break... Agree on the missed hit to the jaw. Did the lot of them go on a week long bender together or something?
But even with the missed calls, that was a brain cramp by rittich and an unacceptable clearance by the dman. 2 moronic plays like that in a row in your own end usually equal goal

Rittich done goofed on that 2nd one. 3-2 after 2 on the road?
Solid.

Rittich isn't that bad at it. He just makes rookie mistakes sometimes. And he doesn't know all the rules either. Like that one and the penalty he took for delay the other day.

Rittich's mistake was bad but whoever the dman who pushed that muffin to the point was more to blame imo.

I don't mind him doing it as I think it's a good skill to have, but he haven't been entirely successful at picking his spots with it so far.

The reffing hasn’t be that bad in this game, the linesmen have made some bad calls but nothing to overly b**ch about.
Flames playing good and seems to be a battle of the goalies.

Kylington has spent 3:30 against second overall pick Andrei Svechnikov and his line with McGinn and Martinook and 2+ minutes against the Hurricanes' beast unit of Aho, Williams, and Niederreitter. He's also logged a minute against Ferland and Teravainen.
Kylington-Prout are 53% CF in this game and have generally looked poised and effective.
I'm really impressed by this so-called third pair this afternoon.
