Love smith’s positive attitude at the end of the game here when talking to Rittich. If he could help guide him through the season and be a mentor to him i think it would be beneficial for both guys.

Loved seeing so much emotion, fights, hits, scrums and chirping! That's what the BOA is all about.
Lindholm is such a smart player and really a treat to watch. Not a lot of weaknesses in his game.
Felt like Johnny deserved a goal today, he was flying around all night making some Oilers players look absolutely foolish. That hit from behind was egregious too, and I heard one of the commentators say that Johnny turned into the boards, that's BS because I have seen that called a penalty a hundred times. I also think he is a little banged up from that cross check he took to the ribs against a team I can't remember at the moment, maybe Chicago?
Even my friend who's an Oilers fan admitted it was a dirty hit on Gaudreau, and I didn't even prompt him!
And agreed, Elias Lindholm has been a revelation. He's quickly becoming a favourite. He works hard, his positioning his solid, he's clever, a good playmaker, and who knew that he has a hell of a release? Oh yeah, Treliving and the Flames' scouts did.
I think the best part of the game for me was Tkachuk going to the bench after one of the scrums, realized there was yapping going on at the other side of the bench, got a giant grin on his face and just made his way over across 5 or 6 flames players to talk trash with the Oilers bench.
Kassian got a misconduct penalty at 19:35 of the 3rd period. Isn't there a rule that if a player gets a misconduct penalty in the last 10 minutes of a game, it comes with an automatic 1-game suspension?
(Very good chance I'm mistaken... but would appreciate if someone could clarify which rules I'm mixing up)

I think that's only for instigator penalties but I could be wrong.

There was so much to digest from last nights game but something came to mind about Sam Bennett and how he's growing the necessary confidence to just blow up this year.
In the 3rd just before that massive shift in the Oilers zone where they just cycled the Oil to death while changing line during the onslaught.
Bennett had a zone entry where he wasn't going full speed but kind of snaking in slowly and calmly, moved the puck when it was %99 certain the puck would get to his team mate and took his covering d man wide and away from the puck carrier.
May not seem like much but we haven't seen that kind of confidence in Bennett, like almost ever. That's a play that stood out to me in a big big way for Sam Bennett and his future. He's settling in.

Wow. I learned from the first article that Rattie played. Was at the game and literally never saw him once. At all. Also re-watched it at home this morning and never saw him then either. Nor did I hear his name mentioned (may have just missed it).
There is invisible, and then there is invisible.
Wasn't he penciled in for 35 goals this year by one of the clown-show media guys?
Matheson on the first period Backlund/McDavid run in ...Didn't McDavid have Backlund's neck?
Quote:
In between, McDavid got drilled into the boards by his shadow Mikael Backlund and Backlund grabbed McDavid around the neck as they tumbled to the ice. McDavid got a rough ride from Bennett, at times, too. Lucic rode shotgun with McDavid and Draisaitl from the first period on like Dave Semenko and Gretzky. “Little more physicality and little more meat on that line and around the blue-paint for Looch,” said McLellan.
It's almost like he didn't watch the same game as everyone else. McDavid was clearly the one who grabbed Backlund by the neck and tried to injure him.
It's almost scary how delusional and pathological Oiler fans and media are about lying and revising things.

Great to see. By almost all accounts he sounds like he’s a great teammate in the locker room and if Rittich can take the reins of the starting role that should put a lot less stress on Smith. His problems right now seem like 80% mental so if he could relax a bit out there he could be a solid backup. Doesn’t need to be lights out, give the team 2.75 and .910 and that’s good enough in a backup role.

Had a look at the season stats and the Frolik-Ryan-Neal combination wasn't used until last night.
Only one period to look at but you have to wonder if that's how they configure the third line when they take the ice against Vegas.
Gives them two strong defensive lines that still have offensive skill. I’d like to see them give it a few more games at least — they dominated as a third line last night and could really give other teams matchup problems trying to contain the top line and Tkachuk’s line.
PS I saw Frolik taking some initial strong side draws — was surprised as faceoffs are a strength of Ryan’s and I don’t think I’ve seen Frolik used that way before.
