Flames looking listless. More importantly, this game and the majority of preseason so far, offensively they don’t look like a sustained threat over the top 3 lines, nor the PP past short bursts from the top line only. 2nd pp unit looked as useless as they did last year when they went from Nov to March without a PP goal.

To that end, that was the fear the Treliving expressed to McKenzie; scoring goals. That’s coming true pretty early against what should be inferior opposition.

I know I’ve been beating the drum hard for Jagr, somewhat for the coolness factor, but in all seriousness, having an outside new energy come in, that’s proven to put up points, and doesn’t cost anything except cap, would be a great addition to a weak right side that the Flames are pinning solely on Ferland to keep up the pace from two months of last year (where the first 5 months plus pretty much the season before that, he was very quiet). There’s no immediate help coming from the farm, and the Flames can’t give up a whole lot to find a premier right winger.

He’s been in touch with the Flames, has history with GG, but most importantly would probs lot fill the skill requirement.

Make it happen. The veteran presence, skill, fill for a weak spot in the lineup, playing PP, and the energy of a HoF player would,do wonders up and down the lineup IMO.

Preseason doesn't mean anything/everything but it also doesn't mean nothing.

The flames have looked pretty terrible in most facets of the game throughout the preseason. How many players other than Jankowski who is at best slotted in to the 4th line and perhaps Versteeg, are walking into game 1 with some momentum spring boarded off the preseason?? Let's see, hopefully everyone suddenly hits the switch next week.....

Off-topic, but this game sucks. Why does Rob Kerr act like he's 72 years old on the radio? Is he really that old?

Really? Which line is inaccurate?

Has Smith outplayed Neilsen?

Has our PP been better than theirs? Perhaps our PK, which should be showing 0 for 2 has been better than their 100% (so far) PK?

Have we not given the puck away more than them? Have we not been out battled?

Please, do tell which line is inaccurate about tonight’s game.

Flames looked the same last year in pre season so i think it is fair to be concerned. They didnt flip the switch in the first 10 games so not sure how they expect to do it now.

The problem isn't that the Flames look terrible and it's preseason.

The problem is that the Flames look like the Flames from last year's regular season who when their PP wasn't firing couldn't score a goal to save their lives, and needed to be world beaters in 3 on 3 to scrape into a wild card spot in the playoffs. Gulutzan hasn't shown any indication that he wants to take a chance on prospects like Jankowski and Kulak either (not to mention how they sent Kylington down far sooner than he deserved).

The bottom of the lineup really brings nothing... we've somehow downgraded on Alex Chiasson, Troy Brouwer manages to singlehandedly neutralize a star level talent in Bennett, the 4th line is not strong, and Bartkowski on the third pair is not an answer to anything.
