Double faulted to get broken and drilled the ref.

I just saw the disqualification, what the hell Shapovalov? Canadians are supposed to be polite and good sportsmen.

Wonder if he would have defaulted if he drilled someone in the crowd instead. Maybe he's luckier to have hit the umpire.

17-year-old kid behaves like 17-year-old kid on the major world stage and lets emotions completely take over. I expect he'll learn from this one.

I hope we can see Davis Cup Vasek on the ATP tour, that was some fine tennis from Pospisil this past weekend.

The tie's referee Brian Earley is expected to issue Shapovalov with a fine of 12,000 US dollars.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) could increase the fine and/or hand Shapovalov a ban, though the latter is highly unlikely given Shapovalov's instant apology and the accidental nature of what happened.

I hope the umpire is ok. Umpires depend on their eyes and hopefully it doesn't end his career.
Going forward, Pospisil and Polansky are in the San Francisco Challenger this week

Felix has the week off as there is no Florida tournament this week.

I wonder if he is going to get the Dennis Wideman treatment from all the other umpires moving forward?

I did some pretty stupid stuff when I was 17, good on Denis for owning it and I doubt we'll ever see anything like this in the future.

i wouldn't think so. Umps have very little power in tennis due to hawkeye. They more or less just manage the match. Also Shapovalov is very sorry and isn't going to appeal whatever decision is handed down to him (which is now only $7000).

There's a lucky tennis fan (or maybe just a Genie fan) in Missouri...
One brave fan decided to test his luck and make the best kind of bet -- one that you can't lose. He asked Bouchard if she would go on a date with him if the Patriots came back to win the game. Thinking that outcome an utter impossibility, Bouchard agreed to the proposal.

I love that "punslayintwoods" is getting so much uncensored play in the main stream media.

Vasek defeated Marco Trungelliti of Argentina 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 yesterday at the ATP Challenger event in San Francisco. Peter Polansky also was victorious at the same tourney (6-2, 6-2) over American Dennis Novikov.

and Brayden Schnur (the qualifier!) defeated Sweden Elias Ymer 7-6 6-4
That's a big 13 points gained so far and he's jumped 31 places the 394.
Steven Diez lost in Round 1 trying to qualify for Sofia 250.

Vasek into the quarter-finals of the ATP Challenger event in San Francisco, unfortunately both Peter Polansky and Brayden Schnur did not advance.
