That may be true today, but how does the deal look in year 4 or 5, when his game slips and we're left with 3 years x $7M per?

No way we give him that contract AFTER giving up the 6th overall pick for him.

Now.
Not in 5 - 7 years when he's eating up 7 million several years removed from being a starter.
What you're suggesting couldn't be more short sighted and that's what ends up crippling teams in a cap world.

I'm not saying hes a schlub, I'm saying hes 29 with 2 serious injuries. He was a Vezina contender. Past tense.

Lou has been awesome ever since he got to Florida - and he's 37! Same age as Bishop would be at the end of this contract.
I would definitely take Bishop at 7/7. In a heartbeat.

Yeah could we circle back to the Avs or perhaps Chicago please? Lots of goalies out there, no need to give up the world for Bishop

I would expect not. Here's hoping Treliving can negotiate a lower term.

Yep. Bishop can start with $7 x7, but negotiations can definitely bring that down.

He also said Blues will take #35 for Elliott and he thinks that deal will get done.

Would rather deal 35 for Elliott than 6 for Bishop.

Bear in mind that Brad doesn't do NMC'S, doesn't mean he will be here 7 years. Good asset management and you move him out in 3 when/if Gillies takes over and he still has good trade value

35 for Elliott seems too good to be true.

I agree. Bishop is my preferred choice, but I don't see how they can fit him into their cap structure without moving out other key pieces.
