I think anyone who followed this thread has a fair grasp on Jankowski and his development. Everyone knows the system he was in. Everyone knows how his development has gone. I don't think anyone is shocked by 3pts in 4 games. Everyone understands he had a good but not amazing year and he's going to need to build on that in the AHL. I'm sure anyone and everyone would have preferred to see him have better stats but it is what it is. People understand he might not be the top 6 forward we hoped for and are fine with that. He's developing a strong 2 way game that could be very beneficial for the team. At the same time he has shown some offensive skills that still have people hoping he will get there. A lot of that will likely be determined over the next year or two. Point being I think most people here have a pretty good understanding of the player.

Not to pick on you Hackey but it's amazing how many people talk about Flames AHL prospects (good or bad) despite not having seen them. Its apparent they don't really watch since they post being surprised by the play by play guy. He's been doing that all season.

Still no professional goals for Jankowski. Put him on a line with Poirier and Klimchuk, the Bust Line?

Still not sure that's a fair assessment. I'd say 2nd team all star and over a point per game in a defensive system is actually a pretty awesome year for him. I'd say he still very much looks like a top two line prospect as well. Not sure where people get the idea that he's a 3rd liner. He oozes skill and has the size and skating to be an impact NHLer when he's fully developed. Probably just needs to add a bit more bulk and then learn the pro game.
Seems like he's just underrated a bit less after this year but still probably underrated by most. Not sure what we're going to do with him long term given our situation at centre but he's one of our most valuable and highest upside prospects.

Everyone has relatively strong opinions about most players in the league but how much have you truly watched them all play? Some more than others but some probably not a whole lot. If you're being fair and objective you can see where Jankowski sits. I don't think viewing him slightly more really changes that. We all know he has hands, good size, has developed a strong 2 way game, etc but needs some seasoning. He's had a pretty steady progression in development but nothing crazy. So anyone writing him off or penciling him into the top 6 I think is just talking out their butt. I think most have a good sense of where he sits currently regardless if you've watched him for 5 minutes or 5 hours.

My son heard me watching these highlights & ran over & said hey dad that sounds like WWE.... You never watch that stuff.
He was surprised to see it was Stockton highlights.

The difference with NHL players is that most have seen them play a game or two. You can see the traits. I agree you can't tell whole lot in a highlights package.

Nor can you from following a thread. I can follow how Andrew Mangiapane and Rasmus Andersson are doing through others in the OHL this year but I won't get my own read on them and be able to comment until I've seen them myself.

I guess my point though is people make judgements with relatively minimal information. You collect as much as you can from highlights, stats, word of mouth etc and form an opinion. I just dont see the difference between saying see I told you he would be great and see I told you he wouldn't being from viewing him slighty more. If you've followed this thread you've seen his progression and the promise. At the same time you haven't seen anything that really jumps out. So based on that you can kind of make a prediction either way. Whether you're right or wrong I think is more luck than anything and if it isn't then you should be working in the NHL.

I disagree, you can't tell how their NHL career will pan out but you can see such things as dexterity, hand eye coordination and hockey sense/vision. Johnnys highlight reels from when he was in college accurately portrayed his physical skillset, as did Baertschis highlight reels.
Baertschi will always have incredible skill, it's what's inbetween the ears that we can't see that holds him back. Kanzigs highlight reel isn't going to be making offensive plays, it'll be annihilating forwards with hits and fights (still a good representation of his playstyle). You can speculate on Jankowskis career path all you want but what we've seen recently is very very promising in terms of basic skillset.

Agreed. However some of us have seen Jankowski impress in multiple prospect camps with live viewings. I think that is what is most impressive to me, is how he looked as compared to our other youngsters. You could tell he had massive upside and skill. I'm sure someone could find some quotes from the last few prospect camps.

I terms of him being a third liner, I think that people are hoping that he will be a third liner in the vein of Jordan Staal in Pittsburg, or Joel Otto behind neiwy and Gilmour. I think that there is a good chance that he gets there.

The goal is officially credited to Arnold with Jankowski assisting on the AHL website... will see if they change it.

he was "only" a PPG in college. There's "no way" he could be a ppg in the AHL.

That goal will be changed. Looked at the review. Clear as day that @Janko61 scores his first pro goal.
