The attendance numbers in TO for Bills games were also fairly low. Nothing says 'we can support the NFL' like a 2/3 full stadium.

Wouldn't matter. You think the fans in Green Bay/Dallas/New York etc care who's coming to town? They'd just fill the stadium to watch their team play.
As far as TV goes, it would be part of the NFL TV deal. NFL can pick and choose and charge as much as they want to so networks would have to put Canadian teams on, especially if they're good.
Toronto hasn't shown it can draw 80k. For the first 5 seasons it was 50k, the last 2 times 40k and 38k. For only 1 game a year those numbers are putrid.
NFL is not in Canada cuz no one wants to foot a massive expansion fee and the fan bases are just no there.
Canadians love the NFL though, but they'd rather go down to a warm city and make a weekend out of it.

Matter of opinion I guess but I personally love the NFL game because it's a better product, better players and better rules.
I have seen more live NFL games than CFL games and I live in Calgary. for TV it's almost an accident to watch a CFL game on TV but it is a travesty if I miss my Sunday NfL.

That thing was setup to fail in the first place. Awful venue for football, and awful matchups when fans in the region could simply drive 2 hours to Buffalo for better game experience and matchups any time during the season.

I meant as in watching a game in Canada (like the Bills in TO) versus going down to watch your fav team or just going on a weekend bender down to a warm city and catch a game too.

Creosote contamination at proposed arena site to be studied
http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-...-to-be-studied
The West Village land being touted for a new hockey arena, football stadium and amateur sports fieldhouse has long presented an environmental headache. Much of the area is contaminated from a former creosote plant. Previous estimates have put the cleanup costs at between $50 million and $300 million.
Calgary Municipal Land Corp. (CMLC) is busy hiring a consultant for an environmental review of the area, but the bigger question — aside from the extent of the creosote damage — is who will pay the multimillion-dollar cleanup tab.

I understand, as I share my season tickets with 3 other guys as well. However on your account there is only one primary account holder. The other person may be on the account, but they are listed as secondary.
I also would have like to be able to bring another person from my STH group; however I can also understand that the Flames had limited numbers of seats available. The other option would have been letting everybody bring a guest, but then only 1/2 the STHs would be able to attend. Given that choice, I get why they went this route.

I wonder if the Flames helped get that started again. So the summary is that they are going to review the existing report and update it with anything that has changed since the flood? I think if the data shows continued seepage across the river that something will get done. Though I dont understand why provincial and federal governments dont want to be involved. Environmental contamination just doesn't seem like a 'city problem'.

I wouldn't be so sure. Football is like a religion in the USA, and the CFL gets some OK ratings on ESPN.
Heck, I've watched a Stamps game in a packed bar on the Las Vegas strip. Despite most people not knowing who the teams were, tons still watched.

The part of this that I don't understand is they are hosting ticket holders in the Boyce Theatre but the media in the Saddledome. More ticket holders than media, more space in the dome...

Quite interesting that governments haven't united to clean up the site already. Like how can they just sit there and say yeah, there's a major environmental problem going on. But lets not do anything about it. Maybe it'll go away on it's own.
What is their plan? What if the Flames decided to keep going in the dome for another 15 years?

If it is a Bow River issue, then the provincial government is responsible from my very limited understanding.

The site was worked on in the past. The creosote has (had) been contained to the site by a barrier wall and water wells that pull groundwater which is treated at a treatment facility onsite. This was done in 1997.
There is also the impact of having car dealerships and a bus station there so creosote is not the only concern.

Considering the size and interest in this project, kudos to those under the confidentiality umbrella. There have virtually been zero leaks of details and only conversation about things that are already commonly known.
One day to go and well done. Exciting (hopefully) day tomorrow.

Isn't creosote basically harmless and put into construction wood? Isn't this found in common building materials for homes, and we're actually quite exposed to it very frequently?
I question how dire the creosote needs to be cleaned up if it's really not that hazardous. But I'm not an expert on this chemical or on the matter in general; just wondering if letting time and nature sort this one out is an option too.
