I think it is funny that so many people focus on us needing a RH defenseman, but why? Tonight our only LD dressed was Russell. With Brodie being more comfortable on the right side, then having Wideman & Engelland under contract for a couple more years I would say a mobile LHD would be more important to acquire at this point in time.

FWIW, a source said the #Blackhawks have asked about Joel Ward (Caps). Who knows what comes of it but that would be intriguing, IMO.
There are also a lot of rumours that the reported Chicago locker room fight involved Sharp's off-ice activities apparently.

The rumors making the rounds (which I will not post because it's not cool to) do not paint Sharp in the most honorable light. Sounds like some justification was happening in the lockeroom. Then again, purple monkey dishwasher.

Yup, who knows. Regardless the quick succession of reports of a locker room fight due to off-ice activities then Sharp trade rumours paints a picture.
A Sharp for Ward trade of some sort would be a pretty significant shakeup either way.

When sureloss initially posted that little rumour I immediately thought Ward + cap dump to fit Sharps cap in. Would be an absolutely brilliant trade for both teams.

I'm wondering with both teams interested in glencross ,if they made said trade, would either team still want glencross?

I think CHI will. WSH has cap issues so it'd be Sharp and that's it. CHI has enough wiggle room to load up with Ward and Glencross. Kimmo's cap hit is only 1 million anyways I think.

I'm conflicted.
On the one hand I want the team as is to force their way into the playoffs.
On the other hand, I love a good team shakeup due to a couple of trades...
Hopefully we can find a nice balance, unloading a few players that don't impact the team dynamic too much while adding a few spark plugs down the stretch.

Yandle! I really don't know why. But I think this is going down by Monday for the Flames. Or the Wiz.

Really don't hope so. Yandle is the left handed version of Mike Green, 1 dimensional.

Still wondering if it would be at all possible to "buy" Ryan Ellis from the Preds.
Rent them Glencross, take the Stalberg contract off their hands ($7,000,000+ over this season and the next two) and send them Diaz so they still have some depth.
Left D - Josi, Ekholm, Bartley, Volchenkov
Right D - Weber, Jones, Franson, Diaz
I'm sure a budget team like that really doesn't like having to pay Stalberg that much money to play in Milwaukee.
Ellis would be an excellent pick up.....blooming top 4 D man, 24 years old, right hand shot, highly mobile, signed for 4 more season @ $2.5 million per. He'd fit the Flames system perfectly.
Would help the team push for the playoffs this season, but at the same time he'd be a nice piece for the future too.

I can definitely see some hockey trades going down over the next couple of days once the rentals go. I think the Flames could be involved

I could see it. The cost scares me though.

@KatieStrangESPN: As it currently stands, looks more likely that Rangers F Mats Zuccarello will be traded than re-signed. Teams have been told he's available

(Glencross + Engelland) <--> Mike Green
If the Capitals were still interested in Glencross, that would work out with some cap space to spare. Engelland gives them a player that is signed for two more seasons and he gets to re-join some of his former Pittsburgh teammates on the backend in Washington. I think the Flames could re-sign Green before the FA deadline, given that he'd be playing in his hometown.

I was told from someone who knows a member of Greens family that he has no desire to play for the Flames

No one will trade for Engelland, we are stuck with him. He's a #7 dman being paid $2.9m, he's not going anywhere, at least not until his contract's almost over. Even then, I don't imagine a 35 year old Engelland will be appealing, even as a deadline acquisition. Dude is literally one of the worst players in the NHL.

If David Clarkson is tradeable anyone is. Bad contract for bad contract kind of deal. Mike Richards, Alex Semin, Mike Smith, etc.

I am more interested in the Patrick Sharp saga. He must have done something that caused a full out fist fight.

Hagelin and zuccarello are extremely underrated to the Rangers success. I drool at the thought of both of them on the flames 3rd line with backlund.
If NYR wanted a replacement for zuccarello for their playoff run would glencross be a fit? I have no idea the value of RFA Hagelin.
Glencross + Sven + 3rd
Hagelin + Zuccarello
I've been told in the past my analysis of value is way off. Flame away
