I would think a reasonable comparable is Tavares. Hyped at a young age and stepped up at all levels (eventually). I think he will be a terrific player.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
I get being pissed off and I know he's young, but that is not the type of attitude I like to hear about. Hopefully it was an isolated incident.

Actually, the thing that annoyed me was lying across three seats with his feet up. That always ticks me off when I see it - it's an airport, not your living room. Unless you've been stranded at the airport for 16 hours, sit your ass up.

If he's our Toews to Pittsburghs Crosby, I'd consider that to be a game changer player.
That's the comparison I keep seeing with Bennett, both are guys might not be at the top of the scoring race year after year but have the competitiveness and skill that could single-handedly change the fortunes of a franchise. He has done it with Kingston already and will come up big when it really matters. There's no point in comparing him to McDavid either and while the points are great it's not what I'm most excited about.

Good lord. Who cares.
Edit: Regarding Bennett's play/style - it's easy to foresee him having a substantial impact on Calgary's puck possession game. The guy is so relentless, and has excellent wheels/hands. Going to be an exciting player.

Holy, the airport probably wasn't very busy that day. It's not like you see people standing around looking for a seat in the photo. Chill out dude

Bennett with the primary assist on a PP goal. Wins a board battle and dances his way through a few Petes before getting hit. Steals another puck and cuts his way through the defence to feed his linemate for a good chance. Finally a big hit attempt that almost destroys the defenceman.

Wins a battle for a loose puck then walks his way into the slot before setting up a teammate with a good pass. A good PK shift off the draw, steals the puck and feeds a teammate. Bennett's snipe goal down the wing. Sneaky little pass for a good chance, then almost buries the rebound.

Put yourself in his shoes. He thinks he's ready to be playing in the NHL with the team he's been practicing with for half a season. Flames tell him he's going back to Kingston to play junior again. Now he's 18, justifiably upset, and now there's people coming up to him and wanting to talk to him. Of course he's not going to be interested in conversations with people he doesn't know. Why would he be?
As an aside, why on Earth would anyone approach someone in a situation like this, try to start up a conversation, and then take a picture of them at one of the lowest points in their life? Why? I don't get it.

He's nothing like Tavares. For one thing, their style of play is completely different, and for another, Tavares had a 130 point season in the OHL when he was 16.

Plus, the biggest knock on Tavares was his skating, while Sam Bennett is probably one of the best skaters of his draft class.

Is there. Taylor hall like risk with his recklessness? Just asking as I haven't seen him play enough.
Conroy was recently quoted suggesting Bennett should play a bit less aggressively. I believe the article was posted a couple of pages back in this thread.
I think the Flames are worried that he will injure himself a lot by playing his kamikaze style each shift.
I don't think it's worth worrying about. His tenacity & aggression is what got him to where he is, talent-wise.

Hall's recklessness is a product of his combined speed, tended lack of awareness on the ice, and his questionable hockey IQ. I don't see Bennett playing inside of a bubble the way that Hall seems to.
