Good lord, this sounds like hysteria...you passed a couple cars on the shoulder that pulled in behind you. They weren't driving the #2 like a race car driver and they're suspicious?!?!?

As we speak, some young tattooed guy and some old guy are calling in your plates, because you were driving very suspiciously around them, and even followed them once they were onto you.

So we get onto Deerfoot and now they're both driving pretty slow behind me so I slow down in order for them to pass me just so I could get a good look at them just out of curiosity.
The car passes me but the truck is hesitant to pass me so I move over and he finally has no choice but to pass me and this old dude in the truck wearing a hat and glasses passes me. I don't know why but the first thing I thought about was this case and then I had to try and convince myself that I was crazy and reading too much into nothing. But I ended up following them for a bit and they're both driving pretty slow (100 in a 110) I try to pass the truck and to take another look at the guy driving but he kept speeding up as soon as I would get beside him. I finally just sped up and passed him and took another look but didn't see much more than the first look but for some reason the whole thing had me suspicious. Why were they on the shoulder? Don't they have cell phones if they wanted to talk? And it was a young tattooed guy in an 80's car and a old guy in a jacked up newer truck with nice rims. Something just didn't add up for me so I went ahead of them anyways but as soon as I saw them inching towards Stoney trail I took the same exit and ended up slowing down again and they kept slowing down as to not let me get behind them. I passed Sarcee and that's where they got off.
I know it probably sounds like a nothing story and it probably is, but I just got a weird vibe and now I'm wondering if it warrants a call to police? It's not really a tip but I did get both their plate numbers so maybe one comes back stolen or even maybe one of them belongs to a Garland or something like that. You guys think I'm crazy?

You actually beat the cops, mystery solved and case closed.

Because the folks at 911 have nothing better to do, of course.

Well even I thought I was being crazy . It was probably nothing, but I did text Crime Stoppers the plate numbers just in case. I just have been on edge and this kind of hits close to home. I spent two days searching in Canmore this week and coming up empty and I bet a lot of cars were wondering why I was staring at them funny but I feel compelled to try to help in any way possible.

Might I suggest letting the police handle it? I'm sure that if they needed direct volunteer help that they'd ask for it, instead of having someone bungle around and make everyone else feel creeped out and on edge.

Its really too bad... this thread was pretty good for getting updates on a situation in my home town. Out here I am very limited on info about this case.
Now when I check this thread for some decent discussion or possible updates.... I read about some suspicious person or overly vigilant people thinking they are the next Hardy Bros....
Guess CTV is my best source now... what a shame.

There really hasn't been much news the last 2 days (which is concerning in and of itself) - which is why this thread probably contains more discussion about stuff instead of updates.

And this is not a designated news thread, it's on a DISCUSSION forum after all.

Yeah, it's a real shame you have to go to a dedicated news broadcast for you news instead of an online hockey forum. Oh the humanity.

No kidding. A few weeks ago I was speeding on Glenmore (about 90 in a 70 I think) and passed an SUV going about 80. They sped up and started yelling and hand waving, pointing to a sped limit at one point, then they went behind me and tailed me all the way down Barlow after I turned, with the passenger filming on his phone.
One minor backlog of traffic ahead and they would have crashed into the back of me while playing police (I'm assuming they were part of a growing trend of losers wanting to capture bad driving and put it online cause they see the views those videos receive).
Moral of the story, if you think something might be of use to police just give them the info and they'll decide, don't follow people and do your own investigation. To be honest, after about 3 minutes of these guys following me I was down to either calling the police myself, slamming on the breaks, or getting them off the road and going after them.
If it was one guy instead of two I definitely would have went and pulled him out.

The person of interest has been granted and made bail in the unrelated ID theft case, however it doesn't look like he's been released yet. Media has been camped out most of the afternoon waiting for him to be released.

It is eerie that more hasn't been uncovered yet.
And then I think about the husband and wife who owned the coin shop who were murdered in their Bonavista home last year and still sits as an unresolved case. I guess it can happen that someone gets away with it.
Still, I sure hope they find the innocent people alive and well.

Someone on websleuths linked to an earlier page in this discussion, today. They do seem thorough.
