^^ TSN said Stamkos was there. It wouldn't surprise me if a few former Lightning guys went like Lecavalier and/or Boyle.

i can see a bunch of rangers going as an 'in the moment' group emotional high sort of thing, but if his old team mates or friends went that would be a deeper bond (imo)Especially Yzerman and Vinny. Good to hear Stamkos went.

Meh ... St. Louis didn't have much respect for that deeper bond at the trade deadline. It sucks that his mom died, I feel for him in that regard, but the guy is still a dickbag.

yah, i don't think so. Lots of players want trades from their long term teams. I like St. Louis and am glad the Rangers are doing well. I think Yzerman underestimated him (as per usual)

Anyways, that wasn't my point. It would be interesting to see what his long term team mates think of him. If no one shows up, then maybe he wasn't as regarded as I would have hoped.

Not even close. Unless the Rangers win it all, the cost for Marty was 2 first round picks and Ryan Callahan. If Callahan re-signs that's a pretty abysmal trade from the Rangers perspective and highway robbery from the Lightning's perspective (especially considering they had exactly 1 trade partner)

It is also extremely doubtful that Yzerman watched St. Louis in Tampa for several years and failed to appreciate what he had. It was ultimately Yzerman's advisors who weren't sold on St. Louis that led to Marty pulling the baby routine.

those are all valid opinions, but i really was thinking off ice vs on ice. For example if there is a person at work that has a death more people might go as a team rallying point. But if that person no longer worked there and people still went, that would say a lot more.

They really did a good job of painting St. Louis as the bad guy here. I don't blame St. Louis for his decision.

Granted, it doesn't prove anything. Some players who might have wanted to go just stayed away because it sort of makes it a circus when it should be a family thing.

He WAS the bad guy. He has always had a chip on his shoulders and been a bit of a dick but I guess that comes with everything he has had to fight for in the NHL.

I still lost a tonne of respect for him for how he handled that situation.

Or couldnt get there because theyre spending time with their own families for the first time in 8-10 months. I'm sure he received mny phone calls/visits from old teammates.

Even Crosby went to give his condolences right before they played a playoff game against each other.

That is the disappointing part of this series. When the Habs lose this series there will always be questions as to how things would have played out if Price was healthy.

Take that logic to HFboards please.

The Rangers are probably going to play for the Stanley cup and the Lightning threw away their entire season. The point of this sport is to win the cup. Not to perpetually collect first round picks. It was a brilliant trade for NYR to pick up maybe a top 10 player in the game.

I hate the "logic" on here sometimes, like mortgaging the future to try and win the cup is a bad thing

Lots of talk about Marty St.Louis and his mother but after watching this ESPN video on Dominic Moore I'm now pulling for him and the Rangers. I read about his wife and their troubles but what a crushing blow he was dealt and I'm glad that he's back in the league and contributing. It's a little tough to watch such a young, beautiful woman deteriorate;http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=109...goryid=2378529 |
