I'm sensing a history of bad breakups and trust issues in this thread.
When JG said he wants to think about, wouldn't it be crazy if he wanted to have a conversation with his family and actually think about it?

The HB Ceremony is also in his hometown of Philly, although I think it is... so he probably wants to just have that as the primary focus, enjoy that moment with his friends and family and then move on to the next stage of his life...
To us Flames fans, the HB might not be that big of a deal, but to him it might be the biggest award he'll win up to this point in his life.
IMO a player that is constantly written off because of his size, potentially being honored as the best hockey player in the country... to me, that would be a big deal.
As a fan though I'm excited, so many people are writing him off, this board included... (more cautious then negative, don't take it personal) and he's probably heard the EXACT same things at EVERY level he's played at, and he's been awarded numerous player of the year awards. The kid is a star, and I'm excited for when he finally joins the Flames

His mom was sad he never got to walk across the stage at graduation.
I think walking across the stage to receive his Hobey Baker is going to be that moment for him, and then after that he will sign.
Just my 2 cents.

You haven't been around long then, eh? I believe this happened during Sutter's madness just before the end of his reign. Was it Kotalik everyone was looking for flights leaving/coming to Cgy? Can't remember now, but this definetely isn't the first time.

Gaudreau keeps it under wraps, announces after accepting the Hobey Baker, gets on a plane with Conroy coming back to Calgary, signs on the plane.
Done and done

Friedman on the Fan960:
says its been dark with his sources at the frozen 4 (meaning no information coming out)
usually means no decision has been made or people are in the process of being told about the decision
says everyone he has talked to in the NCAA doesn't believe there is anything to be gained by Gaudreau playing another season in college

I've been on this very plane. Its nice.
As for the flight, my info is a little different than sureloss's however, with private charter, anything can change in a moments notice.
I will try and confirm in an hour or so.

Take in mind when Johnny was drafted he had 25 NHLE, nothing special. A difference of 43 in one year.
Looking at the list of 25+ players to have recorded a 60+ NHLE going into their first pro year, every single one of them went on to be a superstar except for one. (Alexandre Daigle)
|
All those other NHLE numbers are from when guys were far younger than Johnny. Some of them from when they were 17-18 (Crosby, Kane). These guys were putting up huge points in the NHL when they were the age Johnny is now. You have to settle down a bit throwing out comparisons to Crosby. It might not be a bad idea to throw out some comparisons to Gerbe and Atkinson for a better measure. Chill out a bit man.

Timeline is simple, and perfect.
In the next few hours, They both sign.
Later they attend the banquet, where JG accepts Hobey Baker.
They both board private jet, which takes off at same time Flames game starts. The signing and that they are on board is announced at start of Flames game.
