Wouldn't they have taken credit by now?

The fact that no has taken credit and no one has been caught or accused worries me about the potential for more attacks.

Same thing happened after 9/11 when planes started to fly again. People becoming paranoid.

I've heard that too. The thing is I imagine that the reason they use them is there ease of construction and ability to wound, so really anyone with the same motives would likely be drawn to that type of device.

The whole thing actually seems more surreal today than it did yesterday.

A second victim in the Boston Marathon bombings has been identified: Krystle M. Campbell, a 29-year-old originally from Medford, Mass.

Yes, a very good article. And the book mentioned in the article, Manhunt, is a very good read.

I really hope this is a one off and not another Eric Rudolph situation as bobblehead brought up earlier.

Looks like there are some pics of one of the likely bomb. With this much media and photos being taken constantly, the perp has to have been caught on cam at least a half dozen times.

If it was up against the railing like that then I am absolutely floored that only 3 people have died.

hmmm..... I doubt that's the likely bomb.

A) why doesn't the mail box right next to it seem to have been damaged at all?
B) why are those chairs and tables right behind it still standing?
C) underneath the smoke/blur (whatever it is), that parcel looks like it's possibly still there.

And the apparently undamaged tree?

It doesn't seem like runners are prevalent among the mass casualties either in this event. In the pictured scenario, a lot of runners would have been mowed down.

Generally, it seems crowds took the brunt, protecting runners.

I think.

On the other hand, it does look like something blew up there. A directed blast?

Have the words "suicide bombing" been mentioned at all?

My guess would be it was a really ####ty bomb in a fairly strong pressure cooker and so the blast ruptured it sideways mostly

The guard railing seems to be bent around the edge of the mail box in a direction indicating to me that the force of the blast came from behind (ie where the crowd is) not in front, where that package is.

If there was a blast at that location it is odd that the windows didn't sustain much (if any) damage? From what I can see with a quick scan there doesn't seem to be any glass affected. Maybe the mass of people protected them against the shock wave/shrapnel etc... strange

edit: I can see one piece of glass to the right that has been blown out.

Only two known deaths, so no.

Ducay, is that the scene of the second explosion? Because when you watch the video, there were multiple railings set up, and there was also that picket/snow fence looking stuff there, as you see the responders pulling it all away from the injured, in order to get to them.

Looking at this pic after the ones the previous page...it would seem that bag in front could be legit...based on the proximity of blood.
