Jackman. You are paid to scrap and get the emotion going. The team is flatter than a pancake so go fight you pos. should have scrapped after going down 2-0. Useless.

I think I'm going to have to watch that tonight. Hopefully it's really good to help me forget this horror.

Anyone else hoping the score gets so bad that some changes to this team HAVE to happen?

I am watching this game at a bar with a bunch of drunken Blues fans. They aren't even making fun of me. They have sympathy.

St L is hammering us aggressively in the corners and in front of the net. The Flames skate towards with steam, quick stop, and try to poke check.... Repeatedly.

I feel bad for McDonald... Knowing that at a decade older he is worse than the goalie you just described.

This is why Sportsnet West is pretty brutal.
Intermission: they do a quick panel react to the first period, maybe 3-4 minutes from guys in Toronto. They then come back and do a panel talking stuff around the league, and then a quick 1 minute hit with Millions and Francis before the period starts.
Sportsnet Pacific has it right: They do the panel for 3-4 minutes from Toronto reacting to first period, then they come back and do a 5-6 minute roundtable with Dan Murphy chatting with local media folk, talking about the home team.
So much better. When I'm watching a Flames game, I really don't care to see the Panthers and Canes highlights.
Just venting here. That's how I take out frustration.

Sure, but it's obviously not all on him. But no, lets keep bitching about Irving.

Flames are very capable with the puck, they are creative in the offensive zone and create a lot of good chances in transition.
Problem is team defense is similar to street hockey or a beer league game between buddies. Shadow the guy with the puck but don't try to take it away from him. Let the other team set up and throw the puck around, and when a shot comes they don't try to block it, and don't tie up players in the slot for the rebound. This is why the PK has been so bad this year.
The Flames just wait for the puck to land on someone's stick so they can start another offensive rush.
Teams have to LOVE playing the Flames. They can have their way in the offensive zone and know they won't pay a physical price to get to the tough areas and create chances.

At the game so can't read the thread to easily. What's the general sentiment, some people pointing out this team isn't getting it done and aren't good and others talking about how it's just one game and too early in the season to tell what this team is about?

The amount of times the Blues got easy open net opportunities on their sticks like it was nothing makes me hate this game and hate our luck. The hockey gods are enforcing their will in this game. And this Allen guy pulls a Kipper stick save? Give me a damned break.
St. Louis needs to go back to being the non-factor basement squatter it was.
I really don't like this Blues team.
Even Vancouver has to work harder and through most of a full game to get this kind of offense past us.

On the other side of the coin I really like the makeup of the Blues team. Just a solid hockey team with some grit to boot. Could be a good trading partner if they want to add a veteran like Jarome.
