Lack of grit.
Coach sucks.
Etc. Like clockwork.

Serious question here, let's put all of our past posts aside for a moment.
When do you get tired of watching your team lose? When do you deem it appropriate to actually pull the trigger?
Obviously, it isn't 3 years, but honest question, when is that moment for you? Or would you prefer to watch a guy like Iginla fade into the shadows year by year until he's ready to retire?
It reminds me of how I treat my vehicles. Typically, my wife and I drive them until they don't drive anymore. We could very easily trade them in far sooner, but by then, we've paid them off, and want to just keep going until we're forced to make a change.
You know why we do that? Because we're cheap.
I am sick of cheering for a team that has missed the playoffs 10 of the 23 years I've been fanatically cheering for them. I just want to watch a team that can ice a competitive squad. if trading the captain, my favourite player, is what accomplishes this, then I'm ready for it.
I'm not trying to bash on anyone, or be some sort of troll. I'm just a guy that loves hockey and hates to lose.

Who hates Iginla? Just because posters want to see him play up to his potential, does not equal hate.

No reason? Are you f'ing kidding me? He's got zero shots this game, directly lead to a goal against, he's on par for 5 goals this year... I mean, what in the blue hell are you talking about? Iginla is an amazing talent, but he is not playing well in Calgary this year so far, debating that is ridiculous.

So if someone criticizes Iginla it means they hate him? Please...

This forum was on Iginla the moment the puck dropped. There is no rationality behind it. You'd think he was Blake Comeau in an Iginla jersey the way people were posting.
I hope Iginla gets traded. He's done more for this team, this city, than anyone else during his tenure.
If you guys are going to get your panties in a knot over a play like that, I don't know what else to say.
Yeah, losing sucks. But Iginla is 35 years old. I'm sure he's sorry that he's no longer his 27 year old self, who was constantly considered one of the best players in the league, one of the best leaders, the most respected player.
But yeah, it's totally rational to act like this for one mistake in a regular season game.

Kills me to say but I wish we were like the Leafs. Tough and scrappy and hard to play against. I remember a coach talking about our team 5 years ago and how even if you came in to Calgary and got a win you paid a price for it.
Now it seems like the price teams pay to win in Calgary is the flight and hotel. It saddens me.

You may not fault him, but the goal was all on him, he tried to shoot the puck out of the zone at 2 miles an hour. It's a bad play, it happens. Why people are hell bent on defending Iginla no matter what he does is beyond me.

That was Iggys fault, then it was Irvings fault, then it was Widemans fault. Should have got that puck around the boards, should have poke checked it, should have poked/dove/leveled the goal scorer. Bad play, but how we step out of the gates in the 3rd will determine if we get the points. With the Kings beating the blues, the Jackets beating the sharks, and a phoenix/colorado game, regardless of who gets points in that game the standings will be even harder to advance in. This is a MUST WIN GAME.

.... except of course for the fact I've seen very few posts calling for the coach or GMs head.
Just Iginla's, and frankly, he's deserved it this season.

1 goal in 12 games on what's been an offense first hockey team... yes, iginla is going to be open to some criticism.
if that was butler/bouwmeester who puss'd out on the breakout with suter pinching, this board would have chewed them out. good on people for keeping for being honest here.
9 out of 10 people here love iginla, and consider him their fav player. i think it's a bit much to hate on them for calling out a poor play that has resulted in a goal against, after almost a dozen games of 'meh' play by the captain, where the team has basically sucked.

1. He has a big contract and big cap hit and he's still supposed to be our "best player" and he's not playing like it. Criticism is well deserved. No one called him a classless bum, they that play was soft and he was partially responsible for that turnover. Those are both true.

It's not "no matter what", I'm defending him on this play where I don't think he did anything wrong. He tried to chip it out, it went off a skate. It happens.
