Everyone keeps referring what we should do to Edmonton. Seems like people forget about Pittsburgh, who did it MUCH better than Edmonton could ever DREAM of it. Fleury, Malkin, then Crosby. If we're going to rebuild, do it THAT way, not the Hall-RNH-Yakupov way.

I don't know much about Pouliot other than his draft slot. Depres is contributing to their team right now, and looking solid in all their games I've watched (which is only a few, granted). Because of this, I think it would be unlikely we could even get him as part of an Iginla trade.

Well yeah, I'm sure if everyone could they'd draft two borderline generational talents, but there's a reason they're generational talents.

I'd think St.Louis would be a good fit. Schwartz, Cole and a 1st for Iggy?

Ya and it wasn't exactly a brilliant plan that caused them to win the Crosby lottery. Lemieux probably still has a horseshoe stuck somewhere.

What would you want from Chi-town if they came calling for Iggy?

Jeremy Morin and Leddy? I don't think Chicago is a good trading partner

Pouliot has higher upside than either but also higher risk, he's potentially a top pairing guy but if the offense at the NHL isn't good could bust.
He is a great skater and has very good offensive skills, makes a real good first pass and can run a power play (in the dub anyway). He is not huge and I'd say not bad but average in his own end at this point. Maybe if you're familiar with Morgan Rielly, not as explosive but does fight and hit a little whereas Rielly is like Mike Nylander soft.

Lots of time. Look at guys like Kopitar, Giroux (racked up a bunch of meaningless points in a rout), Backstrom and Ovechkin. Thornton and Marleau each have, what, a couple of points in their last 7-8 games? The Sedins are below point per game and have 70 percent o zone starts. Lots of guys who have yet to light the league on fire.
Not to mention that Iggy is getting shots, is missing the net trying to pick corners (a phase we see when he is cold) and his shooting percent will go towards that 10-12 percent rate customarily seen. A lot of his assists have been sweet passes too. Not a lot of garbage or second assists.
It is fascinating how the knives come out each loss.

I don't think everybody discussing it is necessarily throwing Iggy under the bus, but if he doesn't re-sign by the deadline and the team is still treading water you just can't risk letting him walk for nothing.
Even from his point of view if he wants to stay, if the team is out of it, why not go somewhere for a playoff run, get a shot at the cup and come back to a team with 2 or 3 more good young hockey players. Win Win IMO.

Iginla has taken 48 shots this year and his shooting percentage is 2.1%. That has to correct itself somewhat closer to his career average of 13.1%. If Iginla was shooting his career shot % he would have 6 goals on 48 so far. He won't shoot 2.1% for the rest of the season.

Rattie. St Louis can take on a lot of salary cap wise and have a lot of good young players.
Also I think LA would be be a good mix with Bernier, Clifford, Voyonov. I think they are looking to add something since they almost gave Lokitonov away.

For a rental player, which Iggy would most likely be, I highly doubt St. Louis would offer or be willing to give up near that amount. Even with a short term impact the Iggy would have on their team, that deal would have a signifiant negative impact on their future.

If the Flames and Pens were working on a deal for Iggy, and they offered a first round pick along with our choice of one of their D prospects which should the Flames take?
Depres
Morrow
Pouliot
Maata
Harrington

If this is the kind of package fans are expecting for Iginla, I can understand why Flames management refuse to trade him.
....whatever the Flames get back would be a huge disappointment for most.

Yeah, if he is traded I'm sure whatever the package I'll be disappointed. I still remember the Seguin for Iginla rumours before Seguin's breakout season and before the Bruins won the cup. Sigh.

The Schenn, Simmonds and a 1st rumour really hurts also. They would probably be in a playoff position today if the trade was made.

If Iginla gets traded I would prefer to see a Western conference team (Phoenix, St. Louis or LA) or the Bruins
