Not in favor of any Calgary Tower themed logos
I'm not in favor of any Calgary Tower themed logos...just doesn't seem right somehow - it's just a tower, and becoming increasingly less special really.

Mock up idea for someone
I'd be interested in seeing a classic-themed jersey with just a touch of black trim to make the red/yellow pop out more. Anyone up for seeing how that could work?

Although its a detail, if they do change the look again, whatever set they come back with (minus going full blown back to the orginals) its time to retire the name and number fonts that have been now used since Ken Wregget, Cale Hulse and Todd Simpson debuted the 3rd black jerseys in Japan in 1998.

Yeah, personally I'd like see Encana's Bow tower used in a shoulder patch. It's become Calgary's most recognizable building.

It'd look like a cylinder with a little dip at the top. That would be worse than the flags.

I posted this early in the thread...
Two shades of red instead of red and black.

it's funny I don't think it's bad but if I said the things I don't like and would change it would make me sound like I hate it. I guess it's close enough to the classics that I don't mind it, but not close enough for me to love it.

Don't worry, you won't make me cry. I agree it's not quite right, but I'm not sure what would fix it.
I think the dark shoulders on the dark jersey either don't work, or need a thin contrasting stripe to break up the two shades of red.
Lots of teams have done two different shades of blue effectively, but I don't think anyone has used two shades of red.

I think red is one of those colors you can't do 2 shades. If its too dark it becomes more of a crimson and too light becomes pink and neither of those colors looks good with regular red. Blues (as you mentioned) and Greens on the other hand you can have a large variance in how dark it is and its still blue or green.
As for my previous post I never meant it would be insulting or hurt your feelings, just it wouldn't convey what I really think since every change I would make would make it like more our originals

Flames don't need an alternate logo, but if they are to have won, it should be something that blends Flames and Calgary culture.
The horsehead was an attempt at this, and I actually liked that logo.
How about Flaming mountains instead of Flaming skyscrapers? Skyscrapers isn't Calgary, but mountains are. Or a firetruck?

I'm not sure we want to celebrate setting random objects on fire. I mean, a 'C' is ok. It's just an intangible letter in the Alphabet. Mountains? The Calgary Tower? These are tangible items that mean something to people.
Maybe we should set some baby seals on fire. We could even call them 'C'eals in order to explain the significance. Or what about a 'C' lion? Nobody like sea lions. Lets set one of those on fire and stick it on a patch.
Edit: Sarcasm, btw.

Finally got around to this - its a third jersey concept, and its meant as an occasional third jersey, something kinda off the wall... a nod to the oil and gas industry in Alberta... I edited the one from Dr. Pepper in the second thread. It was the easiest to change the colors on.
Or maybe something a little more traditional, but not all black...
I'm finding that a lot can be done with the color patterns and shading - maybe that's all thats needed...

Take our current jerseys, remove the flags on the shoulders. Best jerseys the NHL will ever see if that's done.

The reception on the flag shoulder patches are fairly mixed. Many like them, many dislike them.

Reception on the flag shoulder patches are barely mixed. I don't think I have seen 5 people say they like them, never mind many. I appreciate the patriotism, but the execution was terrible.

I can live w/o the shoulder patches but if every canadian team donned them and their provincial flag to provide a little more continuity I would not really mind if they stayed either.
