A local Mazatlan guy has been arrested for the Nabb assault. He has been targeting tourists at this hotel. Chats them up as he speaks very good english and is charming then attacks them, robs them when isolated. Charged with attempted murder.

Did she sneak out of the hotel room as the husband was telling the truth he really didn't know she left in middle of the night.
On the first night of their vacation. If my wife was chatting up some local guy i would be #### off.

I doubt it. My guess is it wouldn't be as violent had she been nice and flirty with him. If a mutual flirtation turned to robbery, a cheating spouse would have been too embarassed to resist. Anyhow, total speculation on my part...

The guy actually confessed according to the Calgary Herald.
Apparently he was drinking, and ended up at this resort because the 24 hour bar.
He came across McNabb in the elevator and he wouldn't let her leave, at that point she screamed and everything went down at that point.

The cynical side of me believes that the Mexican government is just trotting some guy infront of the cameras to make it look like they actually care. Who knows if this is actually the perp.
Oh yeah, they also have a "sandal print" - lol.

exactly my thought. I wouldn't be suprised this is some low level criminal that has had several strikes. Police said you are going to confess to this crime, make him read it. Cased closed so they can stop being investigated as a dangerous tourist spot. Mexican Police i think just want this to get closed so tourism industry doesn't get messed up even more.
or he could be just a complete idiot. Either way this story has more curves than a sleep walking naked women in an elevator.

Wouldn't Nabb be able to identify him positively, and provide details, once she is able to communicate? Why does everyone think that this has to be a conspiracy to cover up by the Mexican authorities?

welcome to CP, first time visitor?
again, i cant help but feel quite upset about this. i dont know why, but it has hit close to hom for me. this lady is pretty much the same age as my wife and i cant imagine the impact this is going to have on their marriage and her life.
its quite sad. no sadder than other assaults but with her being from Calgary, it just feels more real.
wish them all the best in the recovery.

She was probably wasted out of her mind. I know when my wife drinks a lot, sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night at home, and she'll be wandering around trying to find the bathroom with no clue what's going on.
