No, that just happens from time to time. Seems to happen a lot with new installs and then settles down for some reason. I had that happen a couple time shorlty after I got it. Been pretty damn solid ever since.

Bumping this thread. We're looking to have Gateway installed in the next few weeks. We want the main system to live in the basement of a 4 level split, a gateway at the existing TV (one level up, family room) and a gateway in another part of the house where no cabling currently exists (it would have to travel through the ceiling, which is a combination of open & T-bar. How much work does Shaw put into their "free" install, and how flexible are they?

I've found the effort to be quite good. With me, they've never had to run any new line but I'm sure they would do that. They seem to do whatever it takes to get you what you want.

I've found any service calls to be very tech specific, I've had one tech complain about the type of slitter that was used in the panel when it was the last tech a couple of months prior that put it in.
New build place the initial appointment I didn't watch him all that closely and only realized 2 months later when I went to add a TV to another room that he only hooked up the jacks that he needed and left the 2 that were unused at the time, irritating.
Also had guys fish lines for installs and really put in great effort to make everything look and function well, with no complaining and no extra charge.

Same here, I had a gateway that would constantly lose channel connection. Two separate techs came out and told me it was the way I had it connected, and even that the cables I was using were not good enough. Never fixed the issue for a year.
I had a third come out and he told me it was most obviously a faulty gateway and swapped it. Haven't had an issue since. He actually said it was the quickest and easiest and had no idea why the other two never did it.
So service consistency is kind of lacking.

Yes yes yes!! Shaw FINALLY released their gateway app! Get it from your respective stores:

In a VERY cruel twiste of fate....my freakin HTC Amaze is running an O/S that is not compatible. Curse those slow updates. This will likely push me over the edge in getting a new phone.

Won't work on my HTC One either. I'll try my iPhone when I get home.

What?? The older one or the newer one? What version of Android are you running? That's lame, I was planning on upgrading to the new "One".

Android handsets aren't yet supported, only tablets - they will be very soon though.

The new m8. It's silly that Android phones aren't supported.

I've been happy with Gateway as I haven't had any issues and my only beef is that in this day and age for the money they charge for the hardware it should come with a 1TB HD since it's for your entire house. Don't really care about the app not working on Android devices given we use iPhones.

I have the 1TB expander I used with the old cable box and it works perfectly.

This is a nice addition to the gateway. Have it up and running on an ipad, haven't tried anything else yet.

Yeah I'm just waiting to get close to 500 GB and then I'll pick one of those up. The App works fantastic on my iPhone as it's actually easier going through the menus on my phone than with the remote. Hopefully they get this to work for Android users because it really is a good app.
