ahh American politics it's okay for one side to do it, but when the tables are turned someone needs to be impeached

So its ok to be outraged when the other side does it but when your side does the exact same thing its offsides when your opponents call you on your hypocrisy?

I almost don't care anymore, I've given up on these idiots doing what is best for the country instead of their back pockets.

According to this Wikipedia article (which is the best info I could find) the War Powers Resolution of 1973
Quote:
The War Powers Resolution requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, with a further 30 day withdrawal period, without an authorization of the use of military force or a declaration of war. The resolution was passed by two-thirds of Congress, overriding a presidential veto.
It seems that Obama has 60 to 90 days to get his forces out of the action. This is probably one of the reasons he doesn't want the US to lead this conflict. This was enacted because of the Korean and Viet Nam extended wars without an actual declaration of war.

The 2nd link in Google has the actual War Powers Resolution of 1973 when searching "the war powers resolution." Not sure how the Wikipedia entry was the best info you could find.

So my information is wrong or are you just getting off in not liking my source.
Anytime when I use google, finding the right search terms when I don't know exactly what to look for, can be pretty difficult, so I wasn't googling the War Powers Resolution, I was googling, legalities of the American action in Libya, but thanks for the link.

My securities studies department all had a pool going of how Gadhafi was going to exit. After a month of war, he was going strong, so I thought I was going to lose. It looks like his exit won't be long now, so I'm preparing a good "I told you so" campaign of ######baggery to wax on my classmates and feel like a boss

I think you should change your bet to feet first, there's no way that he leaves Libya alive. He's now political dynamite for any country that accepts him because there will be tremendous pressure by the International Courts to try him, there will be tremendous pressure by any new government in Libya to try him.
He's got no leverage and nothing to negotiate with. I think the likely end is similar to Saddam, the rebels are going to tear him out of his compound, tie a rope around his feet, haul him up a light standard and slit him from throat to groin.

I've been pretty disappointed by NATO's lack of action around Misrata.
I think at this point its pretty hard for NATO to do anything around Misrata. There's little air to ground coordination, and the artillery based weapons that Libya has left are of the mortar and tube variety which means that they can shoot break down and be gone before an airstrike gets there.
I was blown away that in the 6 months that Nato has been involved they've flown 17000 sorties, with Canada flying in the range of 1700 sorties.
Even from a Canadian Standpoint, beyond the $60 million dollar cost, those planes are going to have to return home soon for complete overhauls, the question becomes one of do we send replacement planes? Or do we leave the air part of the mission and leave the Navy there?

Misrata is in FF control now. My post was 4 months ago when they were being shelled continously from the outskirts by Gaddafi forces. NATO and the FF sound like they have a high level of coordination now. From what I've been reading over the last weeks the two forces have been working in concert as they've advanced to Tripoli.

The are many reports of british officers on the ground embeded with the rebels directing fire, the Guardian had a hilarious article about a group of plain clothes Brits 'helping out' on the front lines with 50 cal sniping rifles a few weeks ago, they were obviously SAS, who just love to tool around in the desert blowing crap up.
