This is the key point IMHO. After 8 years living in Edmonton, I think the girl friends, fiances, wives must've enough and tell their men just that.

That was one of his agents. Dude has multiple agents. One for each continent. They are all going to get together to recommend a Hometown discount. A guy who thinks it's important to hire an agent for every city he has a residence is also a guy who's going to take less money and not negotiate. Oilers fan logic.

Agents typically don't like to make fools of themselves and backtrack on statements. This is their plan. The Draisaitl camp put a line in the sand and I highly doubt they waiver. Like the agent said; " Leon holds all the trump cards".

I think Leon is clearly headed to over pay territory. No way he was happy putting up those points and often carrying the team at that price tag. Easily $2M under payed and one could argue closer to $4M. I think he wants his pay cheque and the rest be damned.
I think the conversations start at $15M from Leon's side and $12M from the teams.

I find it really hard to believe that the Oilers haven't at least been trying to initiate negotiations by now. It should be their #1 priority. If they haven't begun yet, that is probably from Draisaitl's camp. He's got everything to gain by dragging it out.
