Romano non-tendered. I don't agree with this unless they have inside info on his arm. Frankly $7M for (in my mind) a B-closer or perfect set up man, is nothing. Guessing they have a hint they can sign a big fish if they're pinching pennies.

The only way that makes sense is if his arm basically is screwed.

I'm guessing the Jays know/assume his arm is in trouble. If not and he goes on to have success somewhere else next year........hoo boy.

It could also be both.

My guess, none-tender was done for two reason, main reason as others stated his elbow is messed up.
The other factor, it was done as a cost saving move.

Likely because his entrance sequence at Rogers Center was costing too much money.
My guess is there are probably questions about his health, but I also guess that it's a risk that he's got a good chance of going to be able to be fine long term. But, by the time (later this season or so) Romano proves the Jays wrong somewhere else, Atkins is already gone.

I didn't realize Romano is 31. Time flies. I still think they should've kept him, as a set up man or something along those lines, but we're not privy to a lot of the medical reports or they probably would have. They're certainly not making decisions out of popularity.

Jays are going to bring in a big time closer - my guess is trading for Healey so having a 7 mil Injured setup man isn’t needed . His underlying stats have basically gotten worse for 3 straight year before the injury

You could be onto something. While I think a guy like Romano is good enough for that role, closers have a shelf life generally. So his arm could be on its way down.

Umm the microphones would be the colors of the teams media that are following closest, not just the team he chose.
Also, he's not coming to Toronto, we don't need to hurt ourselves as fans every off season.

People just can't help themselves though. I'm not believing anything positive I hear about him signing in Toronto. I just don't want it to drag.

Haha and so it begins.
I'm here for it though. The Ohtani chase was the most exciting thing to happen to this team since '16. So bring on a couple weeks of ridiculous posts and internet sleuthing. I've already resigned myself that the Jays will probably over pay for an Alonso or Santander and pick up someone like Torres. Which makes my stomach turn. So two weeks of fantasy sounds fun.

Google Blue Jays, a media rep states a decision in next ~10 days.
He also states out of 4 teams, Jays in his view are 3rd.

Some dude out there in the x-verse claiming that the Red Sox are about to land Soto in the next few days.
He apparently broke the Montgomery firing recently. Hopefully he's wrong, I couldn't imagine a much worse case scenario for the Jays than to have him end up in Boston.

I just want it to end.
What would be worse is another swerve. Hearing he's signing with the Jays and having the rug pulled last minute. Darvish & Ohtani were painful enough already.
