Oh yeah, of course it carries more weight being stated by another person. I try to get my kids do this, but it’s losing efficacy.
I am happy I have the kids trained to not accept free things unless they check my reaction first, at least.

Reminds me of a Billy Connolly joke where he says he was talking to an American woman who was telling him about all the old buildings in her city... some were over 100 years old.
