Lots of snow but it is melting underneath and not sticking to the sidewalk.
Snow expected next four days.

Yeah, that slush layer is turning into ice on busier roads. It's gonna slick up real nice. On the pathways it is adding that "wonderful" extra resistance that is really welcome on top of the 5-10cm on the pathways already...

Had to have close to 12 cm overnight out west. Roads going downtown were mostly fine. Just people driving slow.

Yeah this is the worst type of snow, its super wet and heavy and turn to water and ice as soon as you step foot in it.
People are driving slow because the roads are ice, well the parts I drove on. Going to be a terrible 3-4 days.

Yeah, even with winters, sometimes it wraps around your tires and just turns into something that slides out from under you.

Working from home today and shaking my head at how stupid it is that some people (including my wife) are stuck commuting for arbitrary mandatory office days.
This is exactly the type of weather where unless there's a major need to be in office, employers should be telling people to work from home.

I'm one of a handful of people at my office today, our IT guy is out of town, and a bunch of people working from home are having problems accessing our servers remotely. Guess who gets to play IT support today? Grr...

Ya'll need to calm the f*** down; this is potentially the best part of the whole ski season. Bring on more of this.

She'll tell you to drink and bathe in your own urine when we run out of water in July.

Yeah the anger on days like today always makes me chuckle. I just don't see the need to let something I can't control affect my mood
Besides, I just nailed my wife in the back of the head with a snowball from 50 feet away. Couldn't do that last week
Good day

Snow pack and rain behave differently hydrologically. Alberta's environment is geared towards absorbing snow pack. I can't remember exactly but something like 70% of soil moisture comes from such. Our biome is not such that it captures rain as effectively. Of course with climate change farms and water reservoirs will need to find ways to capture rain as effectively, because we just ain't getting snow like we used to. Any how, Snow > rain when it comes to growing food.
