Where I live, I only have street parking. A lot of people on the street are in the same situation and typically park in the same spots. Some times there is minor shuffling around, but for the most part, people respect the system and park in front of where they live.

I spent almost 2 hours shoveling wet, heavy snow from all around my car after it was plowed in (we had over 50 cm of snow where I am). It took extra long because there was nowhere to put the snow, so I had to stage it in one spot, then move it to another.

I drove to the store and was gone for about half an hour and when I got back, the neighbour must have come home from work and parked his big 4x4 truck in that spot. The neighbour who has a driveway and garage that he usually parks in. Rather than shovel his own driveway out, he was like oh nice, a freshly shoveled spot on the road. I had to park pretty far away and walk up a 30% incline with my kid and groceries, and there he his chatting with someone talking about all the snow. I figured that maybe he was just going to park there until he shoveled out his driveway, so I commented about all the snow and told him I just bought a new shovel if he wanted to borrow it, and he said no, that it was going to rain next week and most of the snow would be gone by then, so he didn't see the point.

And this isn't someone old or unable. This is a young, fit person, with a construction business.

I mean, I know I don't own the street parking, so it isn't appropriate to say anything. I don't want it to turn into a thing, but I can't believe how oblivious or downright uncourteous some people are. I have been parking in that spot daily for well over a year and he knows that I live right there as we have met before. He can't think the spot just shoveled itself out while almost every other car on the street is still plowed in.

Maybe I am the one with entitlement issues, but if you own your home and have your own parking, leave the street parking for the renters especially when they are the ones doing the snow removal for that spot.

I'm totally with you, like of course nobody owns street parking, but to see something like that and think "Oh, this must have been cleared for me!" is such a different mindset than I have that I can't even relate to it. What a selfish person

I think Westjet was having trouble with contractor grounds crew after they decided that was the way to go. I also think that since Onex bought them, they've just generally run them as cheap as they can as private equity firms do. Really sucks that we are stuck with such awful alternatives in Canada for air travel (and telecommunications).

They're offering free cancellation now to anybody travelling between now and the 26th. Not very confidence inspiring. I guess I will wait it out and see what happens.

It GMG that Westjet used to be really good.

You should have put the snow back.

It seems like another situation where saying something in a diplomatic way would help so it’s not confrontational and creating awkwardness for as long as your neighbours for.

More like a “hey, how do you like how I just shovelled this spot out?”

ya right. #### that guy. He’s lucky he doesn’t come out the next morning to a truck completely firebombed.

There are few things I envy about US cities but the way citizens self police parking spots in cold weather cities (Pitt, Chicago, Boston etc) is awesome. The retribution is swift and terrible.

Apropos of nothing, I love this thread. It's always good for a chuckle when you need it.

Dr. Doctor is a doosh nozzle. Total lazy SOB. Avoid this allergy "specialist" like the plague. Check in with the friendly folks at Arid Mountain allergy and Asthma clinic (Dr. Stephen Cheuk or his team).

Yes wait times are super long for allergy Doctors, but don't waste your time with Doctor dummy. He's absolutely clueless and has zero empathy. Wouldn't listen to patients concerns or ideas for testing and possible solutions.

He just wanted to get you in and out as fast as possible.

WestJet sucks. So many complaints and such ####ty service it’s tough to know where to start. Flew Air Canada on Sunday and it was 1,000,000% better. Onex has cost cut its way to a crappy product.

Also hey, figure out your ####ing ground crew situation. Pay them more, whatever. Get them there. So your stupid company is too cheap to make sure ground crew is available so now 500 passengers get delayed 6 hours. Makes sense.

It's pretty ####e, and even before the ground crew situation I would choose AC over Westjet everyday. Too bad AC is leaving part of the market and removing options.

I like owning the tool that removes the core from the valve stem. I mention that for absolutely no particular reason at all. Unless non destructive message sending is your thing.

I really like having the competition between the two, but at this stage, I'm pushing AC out of Vancouver if I'm WestJet.

For local west flights they've already got it. But across to toronto and other destinations from vancouver, will be hard to push AC out with their larger planes.

I literally had someone begin pulling into the spot in front of my house as I was walking away from it being freshly shovelled, shovel in hand. I stopped and told them to park somewhere else, as I’d cleared it for my MIL who was coming to visit.
