Quick update on the tee box selection. I played Delacour yesterday and picked the tees that are about 6400 instead of 6000. I found the game to be different, but in a good way. I had to expand what types of shots I was normally hitting, most notably on the par 3s or longer par 4s. Noticed no difference on par 5s or par 4s under 400 yards. I think it was a more enjoyable round overall to be honest as there was a bit more variety in my game.

As for score, I shot a 91, which is my 3rd best score this year. Maybe I just happened to play better and would have broke 90 if I had played a little further up, but I didn't notice an appreciable increase to the difficulty, other than just noticing I was playing a wider variety of clubs. I think I'll aim for 6300-6400 from now on.

Ending up being the first group behind 20 bros on a stag party.

Solid 5.5h round.

FML.

What course? That's always frustrating.

Pretty sad year for me too. 1 x 18 and 4 x 9 and the prospects for any more rounds are bleak.

Wow, that is a tough year if you like golfing.

I can do 9's sometimes, but only to keep fresh if I'm playing 18's around them. Such a quick, incomplete feeling as an actual outing of golf.

I think I'm around 40 rounds right now, with over a month off after contracting bad Covid. Have taken my game from high 80's to mostly lower 80's. Really great year for progression.

Is there such a thing as a sleepy goat track of a course left in proximity to Calgary?

I'd love to bring my 8 yr old out to a course to start him playing beyond the range. The Shag Valley 9 and RCGA (whatever it's called now) by Glenmore came to mind but the crowds there can be impatient and they really pack the groups through there.

Something like the old Buffalo Run course on the Tsuu Tina Nation. Or a small town course.

Livingston is nice. Out on sibbald trail west of the city. 9 holes. No sand. Cheap.

What about the course at Douglas Dale? I haven't been there in about 15 years and I think it is a par 3 course. Last time I was there it was 9 holes but it is now 18.

Lakeview is a good one for kids/families and it seems to be easy to get on there.

Douglasdale is great. It’s an executive course so a par 60. Only 3’s and 4’s. Greens were in excellent shape last i played.

Lil Devil is a good place to take someone starting out. I took my seven year old there quite a few times this year.

And that's if you're playing the back tees. The second hole can be about 210 or 150. The ninth hole is 275 or 250ish
