Schlemko already said that he believes the Flames tried to move out a defenceman to sign him.
He wasn't going to sign here unless they moved one out, which they couldn't/wouldn't.

The way this Bernier thing is being played up, I would swear he's on a good team who needs the cap space. If the Leafs pay someone else to take him, it will say a lot about their management given where they are in their rebuild. They are better to ride it out or dump him in the minors, there's only one year left after this one. Who knows, maybe he turns it around and they aren't forced to sell an asset at its lowest value. Hearing about Toronto's insignificant BS so consistently is annoying. Every team has a Bernier, but yet we don't have to hear about them every week.

I wonder if the Loghtning would use Drouin as a big time sweetener to get some bad money off the books so they can keep their important players? Package him with Filpula and Carle so they have money for Stamkos, Kucherov, Palat, Johnson etc

They also said Florida is looking for a 6 to 8 yr contract extension on Barkov. So no Bridge deal for him.
