My dad noticed once. Turns out one of my brother's friends would just take them from every house he visited.

Damn straight and I'm not a welcher, never will be either. I'm still waiting on Timun to reciprocate. At this point there aren't people donating based on this bet, only one person, me.

What this post is missing is how can this all be legally enforced, and that comes down to what is colloquially know as best trade practice. It's akin to CYA (cover your ass).
The best way to explain how CYA works in this case like this:
1) CEC says install item in X fashion
2) Provincial STANDATA says you can install item in X fashion in accordance to CEC except we will allow for Y and Z variances.
This technically allows you to work under the STANDATA rule, however, you still expose yourself to the liability of what is better trade practice, the STANDATA or the CEC. Timun is taking a gamble by betting on the regulatory bodies taking side with the STANDATA over the CEC. There is nothing beholding the safety codes council to uphold the STANDATA over the CEC. They may have chose to accept STANDATA as acceptable practice, but you can still be held liable for violating the CEC. This is why it is the proper due diligence to follow the highest level of code in order to minimize liability exposure.
|
Produce the lawsuit where this mattered. The Standata is only issued when the regulator is satisfied that the method is equivalent.
The Standata is issued by the regulatory authority there is no question to the regulator on if it will stand behind the Standata. The Standata is law. You are conflating liability under the EGA with meeting the requirements of the SCA.

I'd just say if you're going to do it, do it properly (aka hire one of the local reputable companies). They do it, quite literally, for a living and generally will be best suited to make sure its done right and the zones are designed properly. Don't bother with a DIY setup that some people think they can get away with (aka the ones driven by a hose spigot attachment).
Making sure your zones are designed right is a huge piece of the equation. Make sure you're not including dissimilar areas in one zone (full sun & full share) without designing that into the layout.

Wanting to add an aluminum railing to our deck and looking for recommendations. Easy enough to do myself or should I just hire a professional?

No issues with my system for almost 15 years now. Family member used them last year and was very happy

We did our own a few years ago and it was pretty easy with a metal blade in the chop saw to make any cuts (file off the burrs). Pre drill the post holes and have some spare washers on hand to help level the posts before you tighten them down.

This is a massive difference and there is no reason for the change . All the other water fixtures in the house are running normal but this shower head has to be sending out significantly more water per minute than it was designed to.
Other than a change, any adjustments that can be made? It's a fixed head so it's not a rotating design or anything.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

We've got that happening in our main shower also. Started about a year ago. Every so often the water pressure will go back down to normal. I have no idea what is causing this -- no modifications have been made. Could the city have upped the water pressure in the neighbourhood?

Different topic. I have to replace some vertical blinds that are in front of a sliding door to the deck with new vertical blinds. Any recommendations on good places to shop for these things?

You can contact 311 and they'll get the water department to pull the pressure data for your residence, believe they have history as well. Have done it previously.

We used Jamison Furnace last year. We have dealt them for other furnace work in the past and have been impressed by their “honest” approach

My only recommendation would be to get on this now, there is a shortage of units (go figure) and some companies might be constrained on supply. IN particular some of the smaller ones. My brother has his own HVAC business and his phone has been ringing off the hook the past few weeks with people wanting to put AC in their homes. He's been able to secure a total of 5 units so far from his supplier, they won't promise more than that.

I've bought two from Arpis, both from the same sales guy.
They are great to deal with.

Looking to replace what seems to be a unique undermount sink (not a standard shape & size) and get a new faucet etc. Any recommendations for a place that will find us a sink that'll fit and/or cut the granite to make it fit and install?

I had a custom bathroom counter made, and he attached the sink. Price was really good, and they were helpful.
