I'm all in on this team.
Really have to wonder where they would be with a full helping of a healthy Springer.

Man this team is rolling right now.
Not a lot of help on the OOT tonight. Oakland won again and is on a sneaky hot run right now. Yanks taking advantage of a weak schedule and eking out victories. The Red Sox taking out about a months worth of frustration by pounding the Rays. Though the Sox will be back to losing tomorrow because they really aren't a good team. But if the Jays can keep doing what they're doing I think they'll be on the right side of things sooner than later.
It's kind of silly but I think that walk for Vladdy to end the game was huge for him. He needs to start being more patient like he was at the beginning of the season. If he can start working the counts and taking his walks he'll get the meatballs and start hammering them again.
The lineup is just bananas when you think about the MVP candidate struggling and not a single beat was missed. Good times to be a Jays fan.

I guess I'm a bit of a worry wart, but I'm starting to worry about Vladdy.
It's like somebody flipped a switch and he instantly became 2020 Vladdy. Hopefully he can get out of this funk.
They're winning for now without him though, thankfully.

Some things we need to remember about Vlad. He is still the 7th youngest player in baseball. Players 22 and under who have played 100 games or more this season: Vlad, Soto, Carlson. He has never played a full MLB season. Players, even Vlad, go through funks. I think it's a combination of a few things. Bad luck, the physical and mental toll of a full MLB season, and a bit of pressure getting to him.
Honestly adversity for younger players is a good thing. He needs to learn how to manage a full MLB season. He is an extremely determined young man who will figure it out.
The Jays are crushing it with Vlad hitting near .150 for the last two weeks!

Every single player in the history of baseball, goes through slumps.
Why do you need large sample sizes for stats to be at all useful? Because small sample sizes are too volatile and unreliable.
Performance fluctuates.

Yeah, this kind of adds to my concerns.
Vlad has never played this many games in a season before.
He's in better shape than last year, but he's still not in great shape.
Hopefully it's just a bump in the road and he gets rolling again, but his 'slump' lasted for 60 games last season and he needed an off season and a massive weight drop to do what he did for 100 games this season.
I'm not saying he's a bust or anything, or that he's through lol. All I'm saying is he looks even worse than he did last year and it came out of nowhere, hopefully he has the mental fortitude to power through it and doesn't struggle for the rest of the season. That would be a huge blow to the team.

It's definitely the best time for Vlad to go through this slump - the team is winning so he's the only one putting pressure on himself. If the team was losing, there would be a lot of eyes on him and the pressure would be quite heavy from external sources. I think it will be short-term and might be a good learning experience.

No reason for any concern, and it’s not even that big of a slump. It’s just more noticeable given the ungodly stats he was putting up all season.

This is true. He was putting together one of the greatest offensive seasons in a long long time.

Got off work a little early today so watching some afternoon ball. The Rays are up on the Red Sox as expected. And the lead in to the field of dreams game is super cool. Save for A-Rod. How that weasel has a premier tv position is beyond me.
Also seems funny to me that new Yankee Andrew Heaney is getting the start tonight. Feel like it should be Cole or some other Yankee dweeb. Oh well. Should be a fun watch.

Vladdy's last AB last night looked more Vladdy like. You could see when he walked he was feeling it.

Definitely this. I watch the first month, then golf season starts. I'll check in on them off and on through July and if they are in the mix in August I start really paying attention.
If that makes me a fair weather fan, I'm ok with it.

Well done to get out of it. ~25 pitches in the first inning is not perhaps the best, but given the situation you'll take it.

... And here we are again. This does not look like Berrios is going past 5 in any event.
