New Jersey has 2 studs in net right now. They are more likely to be a seller, not a buyer.
NYI: Wildcard. They have Nelson, Eberle, Lee and Lehner all UFA at the end of the season. My bet is that they stick with whomever takes the #1 job in net this year and run with them long term - Greiss or Lehner. However they have tonnes of cap room and an opportunity to really change the makeup of the team at the trade deadline.
Vancouver - yep. Good call. They will be buyers in the goalie market.

I think Florida will be looking for a replacement after this year.
Luongo has been chronically injured for the past three years and is 40 years old. His actual salary also drops to something like 1 million next year. It really makes no sense for him to keep going anymore.

Would not surprise me in the least to see Luongo retire at the end of the year and Bobrovsky sign with the Panthers. Luongo's contract was set up for this to be the case.

What are the cap recapture penalties to Florida and Vancouver if he does?

I hope Luongo plays two more seasons after this and retires in 2021. That will maximize the cap-recapture penalty against Vancouver at the same time they'll have to give Petterrssonn his second contract.

Ooooo that's gonna really put the hurt on Vancouver in 2020. A final, grand one finger salute to the canucks as he rides off into the sunset.

There's almost no reason to or way Luongo retires early, but man would it be hilarious for the Canucks to suddenly get hit with $4.2mil/2yrs or $8.5ml/1yr.

He seems to be breaking down physically ove the last season and a bit. He may not have a choice but to retire. Or ride it out on IR. which I cannot see.
And what does he care how it affects the Canucks.

How do you not see a player riding out his contract on IR when it's almost unanimously the route old, broken players take if they're able to?

Kiprusof retired before his contract was over if I'm not mistaken.
No one can stop Luongo from retirement, if that what he wants to do.

Kiprusoff didn't have the IR option though.

Pass.

Pretty easy work around to that tho. something like if he re-signs or the flames make it to the SC final it's 2019 first, if he doesn't it's a 2019 3rd or something like that.
CLB, at worst gets a decent pick and prospect, and at best gets a great return on a goalie who was leaving them anyways.
CGY can then go forward with contract talks and if the ask is too high and they'd rather go after Varlamov or Talbot in the offseason they can rest easy knowing the price they paid was worth a shot this year without giving up too much in terms of future assets.

Giving up Hamonic is not going to happen. You don't trade a top 4 dman without getting another one in return. Besides Stone is gone when his contract is up.

Brutal. What are you thinking?
We need Hamonic, and both Ryan and Neal have outscored Ryan the last two seasons. You’re also trading out four players, getting back two, and still adding 1 million in salary.
Those proposals are real bad.

Hamonic is our best rhd and a clear stabilizing presence on the backend. He is necessary to our success.
Still thinking about trying to target a combo of Campbell and Carter from LA... I wonder if Jankowski + 1st 2019 and some cap dump options could work.
Or after last night, i wonder if the oil would trade us Talbot for smith
