GODDAMNIT... I will need to watch this match on January 1st. This is Muta's retirement tour, and I would have killed to be in Tokyo for this

I really want to post up again, for you old time wrestling fans. The Tales from the territories have been outstanding, with episodes focusing around Memphis , AWA CWF etc They've gathered great panels and story tellers.

But the latest episode on Stampede Wrestling was great and probably could have been hours longer. With a panel of David Schultz, Abdullah the Butcher, Bret and No Class Bobby Bass, it was clear that these guys all loved and respected Stu.

But it covered some of the classic ribs, think the Infamous Mabel Party. Bret talking about how he got smarted up to the business, and of course the feud between Archie Gouldie and Bad News Allen that killed the territory.

Overall I didn't learn much new, because I lived through Stampede Wrestling and there are several outstanding books on the territory. But Schultz and Abbie are outstanding story tellers, and that makes it a must watch.

It's funny how everyone has to use a Stu voice when relaying something that he said.

25 Years ago today the infamous Montreal Screwjob took place.

Abdullah looks great in this, would never guess he is 81, although a little math would confirm.

That Cornette interview is one of the greatest things I've seen. I laughed my face off! How is he not involved in the business anymore? He would be a great on screen personality if given some free reign!

Where can I watch these Tales of the Territories?

TftT is on Crave
If you delve into his YouTube channel, JC has a real in depth discussion on the screwjob.

From all accounts: By choice.

AEW reached out to him early on and he laughed in their face. Apparently (lol) he hates what modern wrestling has become and I think he enjoys making a pile of money just podcasting from home.

Yeah, he talks about it quite a bit. He doesn't like the lack of story telling and ring structure of modern wrestling.

He's just not interested in getting into things like creative or ring side work, and he's put a billion miles on his body, it sounds like he has no interest in leaving his home again.

He's really smart, very much a self promoter, he's a throw back. He absolutely hates the Young Bucks and Omega.

In terms of all time managers, I put him way up there, but Heyman is still at the top of that Mount Rushmore.

I don't know if they should rush it, they could build this up to a lot more, then just a panic change of title.

I doubt that's true. He has beef with The Elite going back long before AEW. He also was doing commentary for NWA until he got fired for being a racist on air.

I'm hoping for a pretty big reset at Full Gear. The injuries and Punk drama kind of forced them to cobble together storylines on the fly and it's really hurt the product. Putting the belt on MJF and finding someone to chase him for a while would be good.

They need to get rid of ROH being on AEW

That’s killed the brand more than anything IMO

Yeah, too many titles. Reminds me of the early WWF/WCW invasion days.

Agreed. I hate dual-brand competition on one brand. It muddies the waters.

That said, I would like to see them separate ROH as a brand and use it as a development territory like NXT.

Dunno if Warnery/Discovery would let them do it, but scrapping Rampage and putting an ROH show in that timeslot would probably do wonders for both brands.

Yes it would. Although I suspect Tony is hanging on for an exclusive TV deal for ROH.

The rumor is that why he's kept the ROH presence, and put the belt on Jericho, to try to get a TV deal.

Honestly though I think it's backfired. AEW ratings have dropped, fans are starting to question the AEW product, and the ROH brand is getting turned on by fans.
