He got his start on the show as a stunt performer and was offered the Night King role after he was killed by Jon Snow in one of the earlier season's battles. He was also Arthur Dayne's stunt double in the Tower of Joy scene. That means he's been killed by at least three members of the Stark family -- Ned, Jon, and Arya.
He also helped choreograph the sparring battle between Arya and Brienne last season.

He was the white walker Jon killed at hardhome. I think they swapped him to the night king role after that.

At the end of season 3, I can say that this is just a tremendously great show, but it seems to be going by so fricken fast.

Good to have you on board. What i'd give to be able to take it all in for the first time again.
Will be interested to hear your take on the final season sheltered from all the noise around it when you get to it!

Since Edd dies, there is no Lord Commander (if he even was Lord Commander) once again. Does one now get elected or will the Night ‘s Watch be disbanded since the NK has been killed and the wildlings are already south of the wall?

The wall and Night's Watch were created to protect against the white walkers, which eventually morphed into protecting against wildlings when people forgot about the undead. Both of those are no longer threats and the wall is destroyed, so not much point in the watch now

The wall was undermanned before these battles. Who would they put there now after so many more are dead? They lack the resources to do much about it even if they wanted to.

That’s what I thought too. It would be interesting to know how many of the Watch and the wildlings were not at the battle of Winterfell.

Werent most of the Wildlings at the wall when it went down. Not many survived. Then on top of that, the dead already made it to Karstarks lands before the remaining nightwatch and the survivors of the wall made it there.

Was just going to post about this. As a warning, it's articulately done, but pretty scathing.

You'd hope that any remaining wildlings would be allowed to just settle in the North. It'd be a pretty ridiculous thing to not let them stay after participating in that battle against the undead.
Maybe someone with more knowledge of got knowledge can answer this but aren't the wildings also descended from the first men? So they'd be the same ethnicity as the northeners?

It was interesting 'out' though. Instead of having to kill people you just banish them to this northern wasteland.
Kind of like us with Edmonton.

Mostly. Wildlings and Northerners are both descendants of the first men but Northerners have slowly integrated with the Andals from south Westeros over the generations.

I wonder if they overcompensate this week, and we just get 1.5 hours of white screen. Winter is here.

Also apparently guest right hospitality was more of a Northern thing than a Southern thing. Viewed in the north as serious as treason and kinslaying but not as important to the Andals from the south.
Provides some interesting context for the red wedding.

It's not necessarily the end of a Night King scenario. If one Night King can be spawned through magic, then it can happen again.
Rather than a wall, the best thing to do would be to build outposts all over the far north and stamp out any white walker BS as it starts happening. Don't build a wall and ignore the area for a long time allowing them to build a massive army of the dead.
And also don't make the wildlings go back. Most of the army of the dead were probably wildlings. Don't give any future Night King the ability to even build an army. Make him a lonely hermit.
