Found the email. You can join the club for $55k or $45k if you join the golf club as well. That gives you full access. If you have no interest in the club, then you can join the social club for $8750 and then you only get limited access, but then you can join the GC for $50k.

yearly dues are

Principal member is $4852. Associate is $2427. Junior is $513.

Green fees are $135 for 18 and $65 for 9. Carts are extra and so is club storage and lockers. It doesn't make any sense why they charge green fees on top of the yearly dues.

I’d imagine the green fees are only for guests. Carts, club storage and lockers are extras and IMO well worth paying for (except a cart because I’d rather walk, but that’s personal preference). There’s no way that you’re paying $4800/yr and green fees though.

I’ve played the glencoe a few times and as far as the members told me it’s just for guests? They didn’t indicate they paid as well.

Can’t pay cash for anything there though. All onto a member account. Kind of cool.

That’s how it is at Priddis. I guess you can pay with a card, but I don’t know if you could pay cash for things.

It wasn't clear in the email. It makes sense it's for guests. I asked a friend who married a glencoe member if we had to pay the $135 on top of the yearly dues and she said yes, but maybe she didn't understand the question, or I just worded it poorly. She doesn't golf, but her husband does.

I just think there’s no way it’s both. I don’t think any other course does things that way.

You can buy stuff at the turn with credit card or cash can’t you? I’ve only played priddis once but I remember buying beers at the turn though. Playing there tomorrow!

At glencoe you couldn’t buy a beer or lunch or anything with a credit card or cash. Has to go on a membership.

20 years ago when I was a university student I worked at the Glencoe golf course and played almost weekly as part of our perks/benefits. At that time you could definitely pay for items with cash or card.

I know you can use a card, but cash I’m not sure about. The courses are in good shape at this point, but pretty soggy. There’s been a lot of rain out there!

My information is about 3 years old but as far as I know, from personal experience, you can buy food and drink items with cash or card at both the Glencoe G&CC and Priddis. I purchased many food and drinks when playing at both courses multiple times, and the last time I played either place was 2018.

If you are a member at either place, you would put everything on your account, because there are F&B minimums you need to meet.

You cannot at the Calgary G&CC. You need a member account. If you are playing without a member as a guest of the club, you can ask the pro shop to set up a temporary account for you. I was not with a member when we played in 2015 and we were able to get milkshakes at the turn with a temporary account that was set up in advance for us.

This was last year when I played.

Edit: based on Malcolm’s post above I sort of wonder if this was just a covid thing they did for last year?

You do not pay green fees on top of annual dues at these clubs. The green fees are for guests.

Those annual dues are actually pretty reasonable. If I randomly came across $100k I'd jump at a membership like that.

Priddis is lovely but so far. Even with the new ring road it will take forever to get there from the inner city.

Depends on where’s you are, of course, but for me it’s ~26-28 minutes with the current stupidity in the SW corner. I think it will be closer to 20 once this is completed.

But…the other factor for me is that you’re driving to the golf course. It’s better than a drive to work!

I played Murfield Lakes today for the first time and I wish I hadn't just heard of this place. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it had a nice mix of interesting holes and was also in fantastic condition. It also didn't hurt that I shot my lowest round ever (71).

You can pay for stuff with a credit card at Priddis. I was just there this week. I bought a hotdog and beer. Then because they have a demo sale on and a clothes sale on I bought a hybrid, a putter, and pants all with my card. They ask what my member number is and I just tell them I'm not a member, my inlaws are.

Speaking of the Glencoe, my son goes in the evening and roams the bushes. This week he got 98 golf balls. Seems to be mainly Callaway Supersofts and ProV1's.

Green fees would be for non members. Members ain’t paying dues and then green fees on top of that.

My buddy joined Calgary Country club but it takes about 10 years to become a full blown member. Doesn’t make sense to me but I’m poor. So what do I know.
