Deal has been reached. I hear cheering in the background on the phone. Herculean effort immediately underway right now at YYC to salvage tomorrow as best we can. This is wild

You made my day. Thank you.

Now back to arguing in the debate thread.

I just discovered this evening that my flight to YYC tomorrow afternoon - which I thought was booked through AC - was actually booked through Westjet.

That was a stressful 2 hours. Good job negotiators.

Yeah seeing the planes out there is just sad, that week in March 20 was somewhat traumatic just not knowing what was going to happen and how long it was going to last. This obviously isn't that, but the memories aren't pleasant.

Is it me or are hotel prices this summer absolutely ridiculous? I mean, I know it's high season for travel, but is there that much demand? Or is this the new reality going forward?

Where? I just stayed in Seoul for $80/night and next trip to Dallas in June is $130/night. Decent clean, safe places; nothing extravagant.

They have been insane all winter too. I don't see them going down anytime soon.

Victoria BC, Kalispell MT. 2x to 4x the cost compared to earlier bookings this year (as recent as March during Spring Break).

Also looking at Vancouver and the Greater Seattle area...

Yikes, you're right. Those places look about 50-75% higher than I'd expect.

For Seattle, if you stay down by the airport, you can take the Link light rail from Angle Lake or the Airport station to downtown and at least save some money on parking and the hotel.

All those places will be way more expensive during summer than spring break, since they have short peak seasons that include summer but not spring break.

Perhaps, but it wasn't always that extreme IMO. Even dumpy Great Falls (as described in the AB vacation town thread) is going for like $250 a night and up. Sure, the exchange rate isn't attractive right now, but c'mon it's Great Falls.

We go to Whitefish often and don't even think about going there between Victoria Day and Labour Day.

It's bonkers.
