Government of Canada's weather site says 17 degrees on Saturday. Calgary's weather is a bipolar rollercoaster. A bipolarcoaster.

They're so fkn stupid to not be asking us to limit usage already.
I have instituted a one-bath per week policy in my house with my kids. They love having baths. Both were doing it daily. It's a bonkers and unnecessary waste of water, but I'm annoyed I have to start rationing water myself because I can see six months into the future due to not being a moron, but our politicians don't seem to have the same basic foresight.

It was interesting because as a business we only use water for the bathrooms, cleaning, drinking, coffee maker, and adding water to the batteries on the electric forklifts. Very little water usage per month. February for example we used 23m3 of water compared to my house using 13m3.
Not sure how much more we could slim it down? Put a brick in the toilet tanks to reduce the water in them?

OT, but you guys don't use distilled water in your forklifts? That a good idea?

Is the water usage that goes "down the pipes" even an issue? Doesn't it all get returned to the river system? To me that seems like use/reuse if we have the capacity to process it.

I admit to not knowing a lot about it, but the equipment hooks up to the tap line but does have some sort of filtration system incorporated into it. We only have to water the batteries like once a year.

Isn't it coming out of the reservoir and then carrying on downstream and away from Calgary? My thought is it's better to leave it in the reservoir.

The ranges from most places say 6-9. 17 seems way off.

Maybe you southerners need to limit your baths, us superior NW Calgarians get it directly from the Bow.
Seriously though, I don't know about the reservoir issue, I thought they purposefully kept it lower at this time of year, releasing more water, to make room for spring floods. That water goes back to the Bow anyway, though it does short-cut past the weir leading to the irrigation system. So I would think usage wouldn't matter so much right now. But we may need an MBates of water systems to step in, I may be out of my depth.

My friend is high on the totem pole of dam stuff around here. I'll ask him, but his usual answer is, 'it's bad'. I also blame him for letting too much water out early last year given there wasn't enough snow pack to refill. My guess is they won't be as aggressive in dropping the levels this year, but who knows? Certainly not mister English degree over here. Either way, I'll continue blaming both my friend and my bath-loving kids for Calgary's water problems.

Well whatever it is, I'm not going to stop using your exterior hose to wash my car!

Yeah, in the summer I drain and refill my hot tub every week while I water my lawn and then hook up the pressure washer to clean off the driveway.
I also leave all the taps in the house running wide-open. Gotta clear out those pipes!

Can I volunteer my entire community as flood tribute? I'd rather chance some flooding over blowing out our water storage in a tight year.
