Really most posters liked the episode but didn't feel the need to state over and over why they liked it while a couple of posters in this thread have felt the need to state their less than enthusiastic opinion of the latest episode over and over and over and over. I can understand as once TWD jumped the shark for me I used to bitch and complain about it in the thread. Rather than continue watching and complaining and ruining the thread for others I quit watching and posting in that thread and let posters that enjoyed the show continue to discuss without Debbie Downer trying remind them why the show is bad. Differing opinions are totally fine as long as those posters aren't trying to actively smother discussion with their agenda.

I agree with those who would have liked to have seen more talk of military strategy. I loved the episode, but going into it without having had some scenes of all those interesting military leaders planning, discussing and debating strategy in detail feels like a missed opportunity. It would have added another layer to the experience of watching the battle too as there would have been the experience of seeing the plans you knew they were banking on all fall apart and deteriorate into a chaotic fear-filled blood bath.

I haven't seen anyone going on and on about how bad stuff was, we are just discussing. It's led to some interesting topics. Should we only be allowed to say positive things? It's a discussion forum, and people have an interest in saying how they would have done something, or would like to see it done.

It would be insane to drop into the FOI forum and suggest that people should stop coming up with trade proposals, or analyzing why we lost, or when a coach should have used a time out. This is part of the experience. I think most of what has been discussed is a legitimate topic for discussion.

I guess the fact that Game of Thrones has spawned dozens of forums, podcasts, and youtube channels just shows there are way too many miserable losers out there who like to analyze the show, instead of just turning off their minds and letting the emotions wash over them the way healthy viewers do. It's just entertainment, for Pete's sake. What's there to think about?

So how about instead of passive aggressively whining about them, why don’t you quote them and call them out? Ask them what they liked about the episode? Anything.

Or just continue to get defensive that maybe two people in a thread of hundreds said something that you didn’t like.

I mean they kinda did in episode 2. Lure the NK to where Bran is. Past that, there's not a whole lot you can talk about when you don't really understand the enemy.

Why would I do that? When someone keeps posing the same thing over and over I simply tune that out and I responded to yours post whining about people whining about people.

Was there this much blowback to the season 7 writing gaffes?

I know that I wasn't entirely disillusioned (though on the way) until the "Beyond the Wall" episode, where I basically lost hope that they could ever recover some semblance of narrative coherence or believable characters. That was almost without doubt the worst episode of the series. And there was a ton of flack here and elsewhere.

The worst thing for me, personally, was that the first two episodes of season 8 gave me a new hope that they could get it back on track. That the warping, plot armour, and trope creation of seasons 5 through 7, culminating in "Beyond the Wall", might be worth it because - hey - they had to get everyone together somehow for the showdown with the WWs.

And episode 2 was so good: so much about it gave me hope.

Then, well, episode 3 happened, and I guess everyone's sick of my opinions on that.

That's when I started to lose faith with the TV show writers, and that was even before they ran out of book material to reference. The sand snakes were one of the strongest parts of an otherwise weaker book, but the show absolutely crapped all over them

At this point I'm treating the show like The Walking Dead before I gave up on it. Watch it for the cool stuff, try to ignore the bad writing and ridiculous logic, and hope for some kind of payoff at the end. At least here I know there actually is an end in sight, I gave up on TWD because the show became it's title in all ways

wonder if we're gonna get to check in with those two sand snakes before it all wraps up. I assume they're both dried out husks still chained up in Cersei's basement now?
