It's been a blast following this tennis thread (as well as the CFL and Calvary) so thanks CP for keeping me entertained while I'm stuck watching sports "by myself".

Also just want to add...my wife hasn't left me and my dogs haven't died or anything like that. Just a weird mix of life going on right now but all is good!

I'm going to have to agree. Graf had success in an era where most of the all time great women's players were still around. She faced Navratilova (maybe the best all around player ever IMO either sex) 18 times (six times in grand slams winning four). She has faced the following in Grand Slam finals;
-Navratilova (6)
-Chris Evert (1)
-Sabatini (3)
-Mary Joe Fernandez (2)
-Seles (6)
-Sanches Vicario (7)
-Hingis
-Davenport
Very few freebies and several all-time greats, multiple times as she played in an era where a lot of the top females took care of business in grand slams as she had to beat the best in nearly all of her grand slam finals. Sanchez Vicario in particular is a top 15 overall player ever and they played most of their careers in the same era. There's little doubt Williams has dominated her era but take a look at the opponents she played and compare to what Graf did. The quality of opponents in grand slam finals isn't even close.

I was at a wedding today so I unfortunately missed the match. However, this is by far the biggest moment in Canadian tennis history. I remember the days of wanting a Canadian to just make the 2nd week of a grand slam. Then Genie came along and had a fantastic 2 years, then Milos came and reached #3 in the world. Now Bianca in 1 year has built on the past to finally win a grand slam for Canada. With the state of the women's game I can see her hitting world #1 next year. Vamos Bianca

Also Bianca is the first player to win a Grand Slam in tennis born in the 2000s.....there still isn't a man born in the 90s to win one.

Medvedev with an early break of Rafa serving at 2-1 in the opening set.
Edit: Rafa breaks right back.

Rafa takes the opening set 7-5 although not exactly a high quality set of tennis. Medvedev should be kicking himself as I don't see Rafa playing much worse than he did in that first set.

Gotta give Medvedev some credit, when Rafa broke him in the 3rd set, I thought it was going to be lights out, but he broke right back and has played some great tennis in this 3rd set.

Well, we need a 4th set and the way Medvedev played that last game, we might need a 5th set.

Oh man, Medvedev might regret that break-point going by the wayside in that manner.

Kudos to Medvedev. He's putting up a good fight, especially after what happened at the Rogers Cup.
