Having said that I remember 2005, and having been born in London in to an entire family of spurs fans, I know how this story finishes. And it most likely involves 5th place in some tragic turn of events, most likely on the last day.
It would be so Tottenham if their good results against the Top 4 this year just builds up a fake sense of confidence and the one match against a Top 4 club they cannot afford to lose, they lose. On a related note, the problem Chelsea and Man Poo having been having this year is the same as Tottenham (i.e. beating the lower clubs) and if Arsenal do manage to win the league this will be why.

Anyone but Arsenal haha

I would take a loss to Chelsea if it could somehow help Arsenal not win the title and keep Spurs in 4th

I think Man U take it though, Rooney is on a mission this year, he is absolutely unstoppable

Vermaelen is only suspended for one game, and that is this weekend's matchup against Birmingham.

Looks like Kevin Phillips has ruined Arsenal's title ambitions this season.

Thought that Chelsea had too difficult of a end of season run and injuries were mounting. Looks like getting beat out of the CL has been good for them.

Poor West Ham.

that was glorious

don't think it really ruins their title chances though, they take a hit for sure

but they are only 3 points back of chelski, potentially 4 off united if they win today (with rooney not even on the bench)

but arsenal have the easier run in

Man U with a big win today, Berbatov and Nani were both great

puts them 4 points up on Arsenal, 1 up on Chelsea

If Utd can beat Chelsea at old trafford next weekend that makes them large title favorites. Arsenal have to be praying for a draw in that game

and if Zola makes it to the end of the season I would be shocked, West Ham are surely going down

and this just makes me laugh, Arsene is so emotional on the touch line it makes for some great pictures. The best of which probly being the one after he got thrown out of the game at Old Trafford earlier this year

Arsenal need A keeper. Any suggestions?

On a non-Premier leauge but still football league note, Charlton need to clean their offices and bring in manager who has absolutely no ties to the club. We should trick Mourinho into the job by saying he couldn't meet the challenge of taking our crap club back to the top half of the BPL.

thats the one thing I can never understand with Arsenal, I think if they had gotten a keeper and a striker in january they would be in a much better position with regards to the title

I know they supposedly have Chamakh on a pre-contract for next year, but with Van Persie injured they needed a target man up front. Bendtnar isn't it

It is all about money there - as in not spending any. Wenger used to have more latitude with transfers, etc, before they built that new stadium. Now he's restricted to working within a fairly small cash pool. That club doesn't want to go into massive debt like the other big Premiership clubs, from huge salaries and ridiculous transfer fees. AFC seems to be run more like a legitimate business than CFC or MUFC, where huge debt is accrued, regardless of consequence. If Liverpool ever gets a new stadium, and continues with the current ownership group, they will be in a similar position (or at least should be).

Not that my opinion matters much, but I would like to see some sort of financial oversight mechanism within the FA that prevents clubs from accruing massive debt. Last time I heard anything MUFC has debts of £650 million. How will that ever get repaid? Does it matter if it is repaid? Do they just get another line of credit/loan to pay for the current one? Seems like a Northern Rock/Royal Bank of Scotland business model to me.

Charlton have a decent shot at automatic promotion this year, failing that the playoff lottery. But you already know that. Personally I think Norwich wins League 1, Millwall comes in 2nd. They are definitely the form team now. Leeds has been poor since their Cup win against Manchester. They'll probably choke out again in the playoffs. Not sure how good Swindon is and Colchester are a one-trick pony of hoofing the ball forward and smashing their way towards the goal. Plus their pitch is in absolute shambles and getting them away would be a decent draw.

I'm not really sold on Chamakh, if Arsenal are going to get a target man they need a guy like Cole; a tank with some height. That being said, I use to be one of the biggest Bendtner haters and had no hope for him but I'm starting to see a glimmer of what Arsene might see in him. Aside from that one match were he missed a bajillion sitters, he's showing some improvement. Enough improvement? Not sure.

I actually think that Wegner is starting to have the same latitude as before but two things are stopping him, the massive inflation seen in the transfer market and the quality of players available. Even if that was true, there are loads of promising young keepers out there and he could have made a bargain deal by now.

In regards to the financial oversight mechanism, you might be on to something. Just like a government the FA needs to prevent a market breakdown and the path many teams are heading down is completely unsustainable. All it takes is a couple of minor disasters or unexpected turns for clubs like United to turn into a Portsmouth.

Actually being back in London and witnessing the operation of the club has made me ponder if promotion will even be a good thing (i.e. aside from the financial benefits). The continual lapses and psychological breakdowns will only lead to us getting battered in a higher division if something fundamental does not change.

I'm all for it if it brings back the terraces. It was nice to see that the Liberal Democrat mentioned safe standing in his comments at the bottom of the article.
