Yeah, they did alright.
A loss in the first round after all that would sure suck though

God, don't even joke!
Anything short of a trip to the finals would be a disappointment though. There isn't really anybody in the East that concerns me. But, they don't call it the second season for nothing.
In other news, 10 is a popular number this season in hockey. Seattle smoked Everett 10-0.

Oh, one more record. 330 goals for breaks the franchise mark of 319. 159 goals against this year was just four more than the franchise low.

Yeah, and they play the games for a reason.
Nobody expected the Hitmen to be this dominate this season.
Also, who expected the Flames or the Oilers to make the Stanley Cup Final in recent years either.
With that said, I don't see anybody in the East capable of beating them over seven games either. I believe that the Giants or Rockets could give them a run in the final though.

Congrats on on all the records. I am glad that the Canes (especially Tadjeh) were able to help.
A few questions:
1. PLante as ans Assistant Captain??? Doesn't he kind of represent everything a leader shouldn't be? (soft, lazy and dumb). With Postma and guys up front I thought that was an odd choice.
2. It may be because it was a mean nothing game but the Hitmen took a lot of real dub penalties. Has this been an issue all year and they have been good enough to overcome it or was it just a weird lapse in a nothing game?
3. Does Kouzon always cherry pick that badly? or again just something he was doing in a mean nothing final game?
Hopefully, Metsola is back for the play-offs because without him the Canes have about 0 chance of coming with in 3 goals of the Blades.
And hopefully Kirk has nothing to do with the Canes games in the play-offs. I have doubts that the replacement ref will be any better but at least the made up calls will be gone. Terrible, terrible job from, Kirk tonight.

I think the real question is, do we start a "playoff" thread tonight, or on Tuesday when everything is actually settled? (I vote Tuesday).
I don't think there are any Wheat Kings fans on here, but if I were them I'd look out (and not just 'cause I'm an Ice homer either).

Not mentioned is that Postma's +66 is the record for Hitmen defensemen, as well as being tops in the league.

1. PLante as ans Assistant Captain??? Doesn't he kind of represent everything a leader shouldn't be? (soft, lazy and dumb). With Postma and guys up front I thought that was an odd choice. He has actually had a really good year, but I was surprised he got an A based on his requesting of a trade at the beginning of the year.
2. It may be because it was a mean nothing game but the Hitmen took a lot of real dub penalties. Has this been an issue all year and they have been good enough to overcome it or was it just a weird lapse in a nothing game? It seems to me that a few players do take some unnecessary penalties from time to time, especially Ian Schultz. But for the most part they do not take a lot of bad penalties.
3. Does Kouzon always cherry pick that badly? or again just something he was doing in a mean nothing final game? Well from the games I have seen, Kozie is usually one of the first forwards to be leaving the defensive zone but I wouldn't exactly say he is a cherry picker.
Hopefully, Metsola is back for the play-offs because without him the Canes have about 0 chance of coming with in 3 goals of the Blades. I don't think the Canes have much a chance regardless, I really think there are internal issues with that roster and they have been there since day 1 of the season.
And hopefully Kirk has nothing to do with the Canes games in the play-offs. I have doubts that the replacement ref will be any better but at least the made up calls will be gone. Terrible, terrible job from, Kirk tonight. The Canes must have lost tonight

Yeah, but I pulled most of my list from memory - lets see Down do that! But still, 21 records tied or broken. That is just unbelievable. Best Hitmen team ever? If talking about the regular season only, absolutely. We'll see about the rest of it. Looking at the regular season, one could argue that only the 78-79 Wheat Kings that won 60 games were clearly better. In 43 or 44 years of WHL hockey, that says something.
Kirk isn't one of my favourite referees either, so I can forgive Moon his feelings on that.
As far as Hitmen penalties go, when they do take them, they are usually penalties of ove-raggression rather than penalties as a result of being caught flat footed or lazy. As mentioned, Schultz is probably the perfect embodiment of that issue. As is often stated, those are the kinds of penalties a coach will forgive easier.

I figured that was the case with Kozun and the penalties. Most likely due to the fact that it was the last season of the game and the Canes didn't really pose a threat anyways so no need to play a normal disciplined game. Just seemed odd from a team with the record that Calgary has to see those plays. Seemed more like the Canes and their top 6 guys.
And as for the Kirk comments didn't affect the game so Canes winning or losing didn't matter. Even if it did affect the game why would I care in this game it isn't like it mattered. When you get a penalty for tripping when the guy clearly lost an edge without Versteeg coming close to touching him and an elbowing penalty when the elbow clearly missed the player, along with two quick whistles when the puck is out clear as day, coupled with a history of bad calls every other game Kirk does and I have no desire to see him in the play-offs.

I bought two tickets to Game 5 on Ticketmaster.
If the game isn't played, do they refund my credit card? Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks.

Play-in game tonight in Prince Albert to see who has the privilege of getting smoked in the first round by the Hitmen.
Also, SHAW will be showing the entire Saskatoon/Lethbridge series as part of their WHL playoff coverage.

makes sense. Neither the Calgary nor Vancouver series will be much of a contest.
Silly start time in PA... 7:30 MT?

Oil Kings win the game vs PA 2-1 in OT setting up a Junior Battle of Alberta. I'm calling it 4 zip Calgary right now....
Congrats Oil Kings in any case. Someone has to get bombed in the first round by Calgary so it might as well be you.

Probably the preferred matchup - neither team would be much of a threat, but the travel to Edmonton is better.

The first round will be a 2-3-2 format for the Hitmen series, so very little travel.

It will feel so dirty cheering for Edmonton.
At least it will only be for 4 games.
(and then I can cheer for them to lose in the 2nd round!!!)
