Yeah, that whole scene was really dark. Walt challenging Skyler, being borderline abusive really.

Well he was out into a corner when Skylar was threatening to lie to the police about abuse.

I think Skylar is going to get a ricin cigarette soon.

Good call! That would make a lot of sense.

I would think by accident. But it's gotta come out of the wall first.

Did anyone notice if Walt was wearing the watch in the beginning of the first episode? I don't have access to it to check. They built up that watch to be something more special than just a gift.

I couldn't tell, long sleeve shirt and jacket.

Yeah, when she said that all she could do is wait, I thought she meant wait for an assassin of gunfight to kill him. Then she used the "C" word...

I liked Walt's anecdote about the watch and how just a couple of weeks ago, the man who gave it to him had a gun pointed at him right between the eyes, and if he could change his mind about him (Walt), then she will too.

There was some great dialogue in this episode. I also liked Walt and Jr. talking about the cars at the table. It brought some humanity back to Walt which is good. Walt trying to convince his son that he has a "naughty" side and can do donuts was funny. If only Jr. knew...lol.

The clock ticking down at the end makes it seem like it's about to hit the fan again.

thinking back to where these characters are now and where they started off 5(?) years ago is amazing. and it doesn't feel jarring either.

That whole scene where Skyler was challenging Walt was coming. Each option Skylar threatened with Walt covered. Further showing how devious they both are. Walt for money and power; the other for her and her families safety. It was a great scene and I can see Skyler biting the bucket through an accidental suicide which has now been foreshadowed. The ricin cigarette is a great catch and it certainly fits with all the evidence presented so far.

No watch in the first scene. There is an angle where you can see down his wrists and his left wrist is clear.

Ooh yeah, they really have been focusing on her smoking lately.

I think that's just to demonstrate how stressed she is. Walt will never kill her in cold blood, with poison or otherwise, and if she goes it'll be in the heat of an argument. For that matter, I think she's going to end up killing Walt, not the other way around - he's going to dare her to do something to stop him, and she's going to snap and put a knife in his gut or bullet in his brain.

I thought her smoking like that in the house was a way for her to try and hurry up the cancer cells or something.

I'm not sure he kills her in cold blood either. But they are really showing her smoking, yes cause she's stressed, but it seems more than that. There is lots of ways they could write that deadly cigarette back into action now.

Of course she couldn't smoke it as is, I don't think that would do the trick, but it doesn't mean she can't find it, be confused by it, open the powder and identically inhale/ingest some of it.

I think Yasa is right on the nose. Maybe another assassination attempt comes up on some rival and Walt puts the powder in the cigarette, but Skyler finds it before it can be used.

Don't know if that would do it, but as has been mentioned previously in the thread, the science of some of the show hasn't been completely accurate anyway. Doesn't mean they wouldn't write it that way.

Nah, I still like the accidental death theory.

I am trying to resolve how in her mind if she thinks that Walt Jr. and Holly are in such a precarious environment, that it would be better to keep them there than to let them somehow think that Walt is a wife beater.

Maybe it's the stress she is under, but I would have thought that if she really felt so strongly about it, she would pretend to be abused to get the kids removed from the house.

I almost think some mundane accident with the ricin occurs and results in the death of one or more family members. That outlet cover looked pretty dilapidated. All it would take is someone to plug something into it and trip over the cord to release vial to the floor. Walt Jr. might think it's drugs and be curious, Holly might just swallow it, etc. etc.

I would really hope that Breaking Bad would be beyond using the same Chekhov's gun twice. Seems a little lazy.

Very possible.

P.S. damn spell check turned my accidentally into identically. How was I off by that much?
