You never know, as long as the Jays keep winning as simple as it sounds, anything is possible. For the Al east if the Jays could get to within striking distance (4-5 games) come September they play the Yankees and Boston more then enough that they would have a valid chance at making it.
Another solid effort from the boys, I think Downs has pitched good enough to get an invite back next year and League countinues to impress me. Him and Accardo are gonna be one hell of a 1-2 punch in years to come. To bad everyone else won, but the Jays do at least gain ground on the Twins in the race for the WC.

Impressive series win for Toronto. 2 shutouts, and another win allowing only 1 run. Last game of the series goes tomorrow afternoon.
Keep it going Jays, its a long climb to get back into things.

Well after I claim that they suck and will be luckey to finish .500 they start to show some signs of life. 4 pretty good starts in a row which is something they haven't got all season. I still think they suck and will be luckey to win 15 more games this year! Prove me wrong you jerks.

I was just listening to the Fan 590, the Jays have traded Scott Schoeneweis to the Reds for a player to be named later. Not a surprise imo, as SS has struggled lately.

Good move.
Schoeneweis has been absolutely pathetic this year. To get anything in return for him is great news. Plus we don't need him bringing his gas tank to mound at this point in the year when there still are playoff chances (albeit small ones).

Can someone clarify for me about trades at this time of year?
The "trade deadline" has passed. Does that mean Schoenweiss now needed to clear waivers for the trade to complete, or does it mean he isn't eligible for post season, or something else?

He has to clear waivers, which apparently he has.

OMG. I saw the Jays go up 8-0, and just checked and they are down 11-10 after 6. WTF happened?

Well first off all Danny Haren really settled down after the second inning. More fireworks between the manager and one of his players. I believe there are some serious issues in that clubhouse. Apparently Gibbons had a bloody nose.

After Gibbons gave the ball to reliever Jason Frasor, he followed Lilly down the tunnel and went at him according to Canadian Press photographer Aaron Harris, one of a handful of photographers to witness the incident.
The two began wrestling, clutching at each others shirts before security and several Blue Jays players jumped in to break it up.

Not like the rest of the pitching staff is any better but Lilly sucks and is a pouty baby to boot. I can't wait until free agency spirits him away to a multmillion dollar deal he doesn't deserve somewhere else.

That's too bad, this one seems like all Gibbon's fault.
You don't ream out a pitcher on the mound for giving up runs, he's feeling sh***y enough as it is.

How did he ream him out? He told him to give him the ball. Lilly is the whiny bitch who made the scene. And when you give up that many runs in an inning, you deserve the hook. Suck it up and walk off the mound. Not Gibby's fault at all.

Lilly was wrong to argue with Gibbons on the mound but the manager should not follow the pitcher into the clubhouse looking for a fight. The Jays will not be a true contender until they find a manager that can lead them. This is the 2nd player that Gibbons has or wanted to fight in less then 2 months.

Plenty of blame to go around.
Lilly should not have showed up his manager like that. You just don't do it.
Gibbons on the mound actually handled it OK, but if he intitiated physical contact after the fact that's on him.
Lilly should be dealt
Gibby (who i've liked) should be fired.
