No they don't. They are playing very inconsistent hockey right now, not only overall but period by period. I get that people like it better with the youth but this team is showing zero signs of competing for anything, now or in the future.

They showed exceptional compete level tonight, after being down 2 goals going into the third period, against a top tier team.
Flames have points in 8 of the last 10 games.

Good individual games are nowhere close to showing they can compete for the Cup. This season, in both wins and losses, they have shown they are nowhere near that level.

If I had delusional expectations that my team would be a top challenger for the cup every year I'd be an Oilers fan.

As usual you're just looking for something to complain about, if you don't think they look better than the team that played last year right now then I don't know what you were watching. Last year once they were down 2-1 that game would have been over.

I don't think anyone is saying they will compete for the cup, but if they keep playing like this I won't complain.

This a pretty bold statement from you. Are you sure you are not an oilers fan. Would be a very oilers thing to do to hang out on a Flames message board pretending to be somebody you're not. Who said competing for the Cup every year? I said building towards that.

And I am not complaining about anything. I said I don't think they look better than they do last season, in large part because I don't expect them to be able to make majors changes in such a short time, countering your made up statement that I expect to compete for Cups every year.

It is so pathetic that when someone has a different opinion than you to go down the BS "must be an Oiler fan" route. But not really surprising as many people have shown unless you are 100% homer they can't handle it.

You still never answered my question. Like you, about those Flames I am just expressing an opinion. You sound a lot like an oiler fan. And well the reality is, the oilers are not very good right now and our rookies who you said are inconsistent are difference makers on the Flames. Meanwhile the oilers 2 top draft picks are not very good. If you are an oilers fan wouldn't it be better to admit it and just come out, and offer us your insights rather than hide behind a fake identity? I said the team was inconsistent not just the rookies, but not surprisingly yes some of the rookies have been inconsistent.

This whole Oiler fans route you are going down is just silly, tripling down on it now is as I said pathetic.

I didn't say any of that until I was called out for no reason in the thread and only posted in reply to people continually calling it out. Also I never posted anything close to what could be considered "negative" even by the very light standards of negativity that many have here. And it was never close to screaming about it either, not sure the need for the hyperbole there.

The idea that people shouldn't respond to others calling out and lying about their opinions is silly to me but every one will use message boards their own way.
