Ya no I agree, American national broadcasts are always done better than the Canadian counterparts in my opinion.

Or maybe he needed a change of scenery?

Or maybe he was sweating his career and gave himself a swift kick in the ass?

Or we can just blame the org, because he played like crap here, but that was the orgs fault, because it suits the narrative.

Sam sucked in Calgary. Sam has sucked less in Florida.

It happens.

Time to move on.

To lament what he is now is pointless, that's not the player he was in Calgary.

Really? When you factor in playoff presence and performance I do see him that way, absolutely.

The Canadian ones just ramble on, talk to hear themselves talk and have to justify their existence. It's not even color commentary anymore, it's just noise, posturing and speculation

Career-wise he is one of the best playoff performers in the NHL, despite historically deflated average icetime.

That's fine, we disagree. It's all good. I like him. He plays better in the playoffs. A star? Not at all imo. But that's ok.

I swear to god. The extremes in the Bennett conversation are insane. He's not a bad player, but he's not a star or one of the best playoff performers in the NHL.

His career high is 49 points and he has four goals in 12 playoff games this year. 35 points in 57 career playoff games. I'm happy for him but good grief, move on already! He's gone, and there are so many other players out there just like him.

Easily could have been that player in Calgary, though.

He 100% did suck here but showed up in the playoffs, something Gio could not even do. He was just turning a corner when Sutter arrived and then was traded for peanuts. It was just bad asset management and now with hindsight, asset management was Trelivings biggest weakness imo, even more so than his terrible UFA signings.

Keep it going Panthers. Heck, in the handshake line, Gio even told Bennent he wants him to win it all!

According to who? He plays better in the playoffs, I agree as well. One of the best in the NHL? That seems a bit......wrong.

Good for him. I am quite happy for him. I always thought he was a good player., So what is is there to move on from. I am still going to cheer for him regardless. Doesn't change my opinion as I have always felt he was mismanaged in Calgary.

Yep, fair enough. I place way more value on a player's ability to perform and elevate their team in playoffs. This is pretty much why we signed Colemen in Calgary. (Not saying he's a star, but a player that was coveted because his playoff value was perceived as very important).

I mean "if the Queen had balls" would have been "If the coaching staff understood what they had and what they're were doing with Bennett". So in that respect, yes I agree with your sarcastic response.
