I'm actually getting something similar with clients.
Are we due for another wave?
I blame Malcolmk14! This is all his doing!

My memory is awful, but wasn't early 2021 Delta? I thought 2022 was Omicron.
Whatever is out there is nasty though. Some of the flu are taking people out almost as long as early Covid. (ie: I was down for basically a week with the flu and I still have symptoms several weeks later vs typically I'm only down for a day or two when I get the flu)
EDIT:
https://www.cdc.gov/museum/timeline/covid19.html
January 2021 was considered "beta" variant. June 2021, Delta becomes dominant variant. Nov 2021, Omicron is detected for the first time. By March-April 2022 it is considered the dominant variant over Delta.

I don't know how the data is gathered but, for example, I tested positive a few weeks ago on a home test that wouldn't be captured by the data.

They'll just be tests from hospitals/medical.

Went in for blood tests this morning, the receptionist obviously has some sort of cold. I asked her "do you have a cold?" she says yes. I go out to my vehicle and get a mask. She takes the hint and puts on a mask.
Have we learned nothing?
In the 10min I was in the lobby she was face to face with 3 co-workers.

Honestly I’m surprised she didn’t say “yeah I feel like #### but I tested negative for COVID, so…”

But also, given my invincibility...if anyone is into making out (or more) hit me up via dm. Will send you my contact deets. I don't care if you have covid or the flu given my invincibility to both.

So annoying. I swear it's a point of pride for a lot of people these days to be out & about visibily sick just to "take a stand" against 2020-21 Covid stuff. It feels like the ratio of idiots vs regular society has skyrocketed the past 7-8 years.

Dude.
I have been saying this since the epicenter of the Pandemic.
There are a lot of lessons that this shard of history should have taught us. Nationally, Internationally, Politically, socially, economically lots and lots of lessons.
And we didnt learn a goddamned one of them.
We should be responsible for our own vaccines, our own PPE, bolster the strength of our health services, have paid sick leave...I could go on forever.
I GUARANTEE YOU that AHS has paid sick leave. That lady could have stayed home and still got paid.
She literally CHOSE not to. Why? I dont know.

^to clarify, AHS permanent employees (or those with a temporary positions, filling permanent positions) have paid sick leave. Contracted (doctors, etc), casual employees do not have paid sick leave.
I had colleagues early in the pandemic (ie when isolation was longer) who had to stay off work for >=10 days, unpaid.
