I read articles, but comments are just yuck for the most part. Reading replies to tweets is basically my limit for that sort of thing. Even in the defeat Arsenal played well, they just got undone by one terrific pass and Arteta panicking into a poor decision. The latter should be of bigger concern than the performance, although they still need more midfield depth. In the end you don't have to look hard for delusional takes online, but it's odd bringing outside views like that when every Arsenal fan here has been fairly reserved about the start.

It's hilarious to me, because my post was so innocuous. All I said was "so...I guess they're not invincible" and that seems to have irked some people. I didn't really think that was too big of a deal.

I know. I was just having one of the Mondayest Mondays ever, dealing with an ex boss who just like herpes, never really goes away.
It made me chuckle.

You nailed it. What concerned me most was the Arteta decision. It was a complete over-reaction to the scoreline and in no way a sensible reaction to the eye test where Arsenal were otherwise controlling the play.
The goal to regain the league was well executed by Rashford (one of my favourite human beings in the world) and the result of a poor defensive lapse by Arsenal during an otherwise good period of play for them.
It isn’t inconceivable that the team on the pitch that fell behind could’ve conspired to create another equaliser, but they never got that opportunity because Arteta completely destroyed the shape of a team that had been playing well.
Make no mistake, overall, this was a good game and despite the result. Once City gets into gear - and they will, the race for the rest of the European slots in both competitions should be entertaining.
I hope Liverpool can get it together to provide a challenge to City, but they are just suffering too much through injury and don’t have the stupidly extensive depth that City have.

As with Scott Parker's firing there has to be more to this than just on-field performance. But hey give Boehly credit for this, it appears nothing has changed so far at Chelsea. Everything appears as dysfunctional as ever, hopefully Potter stays far away from that mess.

By all accounts it's Potter though. Poor Brighton.
It's hilarious though. Spend hundreds of millions this summer and can the manager a week after the window closes.

Wow. Would expect this to happen before the transfer window. Not right after, after the manager spends resources building a team suiting a coaching philosophy/methodology.
Chelsea in the mud, is not a bad thing though. It is never a bad thing.

There really should be a rule against poaching from another club during the season though. It sucks for a club like Brighton that could lose their manager early in the season.

Probably going against the grain, but I personally would just prefer to see all managerial/transfer dealings done before the season kick-off and no Jan window, so everything is locked in for the season.

am I a bad person for kind of hoping that Potter bombs at Chelsea? I think he's a really good manager and I like what he's done at Brighton, but jumping ship right after the start of the season doesn't sit right with me.

Like if you're hoping he drops dead or something like that makes you a bad person lol. Hoping he flops is totally in bounds, and as a rival fan something you should probably hope for. I like Potter a lot too, and am sad he's bailing on Brighton for the Chelsea drama show. With how Chelsea are he could be sacked by World Cup break.

The question that every fan wants a journalist to ask Klopp.
Given that Tuchel has just been canned and Chelsea have made a better start to the season than Liverpool.
Should you be fired?

Strange that they sanctioned that signing given the writing seems to have been on the wall.

Hard to blame the guy for taking the opportunity at a huge club. It’s not like he was offered the chance in the off season, nor can he count on being offered the chance this off-season. This may be the only chance he ever gets to manage an elite club. I don’t think it’s much different than a player being signed. A big club suddenly comes in for you, of course you’re going to want to go. Brighton will be handsomely compensated.

I do think if it wasn't Jurgen Klopp that more people would be asking if Liverpool has quit on their manager.
I know they have injuries, and a compressed schedule, but that Napoli squad is nothing to write home about, they have dropped points to Palace, Fulham, Everton, and probably should have dropped points to Newcastle, and even the "good" players don't look that good this season (VVD, Trent, etc).
They needed more reinforcements, especially in midfield, but it does feel like more may be going on here with that team right now.
Feels like United somehow passed the curse to them when they beat them 2-1 that day.
