The poster you replied to was not making an assumption. He was saying if he did something, he should be classified as such. I agree with that. You questioned why he would even suggest it. Well, it's because this started almost six months ago. The GFM raised over $1,000 and there has been no proof of the van being started/worked on/completed. There have been inconsistencies in the stories. At this point, I think it's reasonable to ask question on what is/is not happening.

How much longer would you be willing to wait for the truth to come out. Since FG hasn't posted in this thread in a while, do we wait for the regular season to start? Playoffs? 2023-2024 season? Remember the PIMKing thread? Are you not glad people asked some questions there? Should Ian Demler have been given time for his truth to come out?

Second of all, he duped us all into thinking he was homeless so people threw a couple bucks his way. I think the total ended up being a couple grand.

people being skeptical and asking "what if?" is more than justified at this point. Goalposts have been shifted quite a few times and after all the delays, you'd expect some sort of update now that the appointment was due.

I just hope this still turns out well and doesn't end in CPers being scammed once again. This community deserves better.

When you think about it, anybody could easily create a burner account here, post a convincing-sounding sob story, benefit for a while from the generosity of the board, and then ride off into the sunset.

Your standard internet scammers out there do way more footwork for less results.

It's always good to ask questions, even if the person on the other side is legit. When you don't know the recipient personally, where you can't confirm the identity, that's just due diligence.

Doesn’t he have Flames seasons tickets and sit in the wheelchair area ? Unless he’s given up tickets - and I think I saw him post about donating his tickets for preseason - it isn’t hard to find him / someone can figure this out

Super weird if it is a scam for $1000 as he’s clearly a real person who people have met .

If he needed $1000 he probably could have asked and just gotten it

I suggest that all further posts be limited to those that actually contributed. I get a sense that it would eliminate 90%+ of the above posts and spare the rest of us all the faux outrage. Then when the thread gets bumped, it is either legit outrage for someone personally invested or actual pictures. I keep coming in here expecting pics and instead it is more of the same blathering from those sitting on the sidelines.

By the way, I did not contribute and will refrain from posting henceforth if only all you snipers stop sniping too.
